Got back from that x-country trip, and surprisingly, it wasn’t terrible. The secret is not to drive 14-hour days like when I was young and dumb.
Spaced it out to do around 800 km/day over five days, and it was actually quite pleasant. The Yukon is the perfect vehicle for this, IMO - lots of room, and comfortable. Spent the whole time driving between 100-120 km/h, which made for a stress-free drive, not having to worry about cops (like I did when I was young and dumb.) Zero need for some 400 HP autobahn slayer for a trip on this continent (again, IMHO.)
Didn’t really add up all the receipts, but the computer showed 13-14 l/100km pretty consistently. Yeah, that does kinda suck. Huge range was really nice though: well over 1,000 km/tank, so only had to fill up once per day.
Would have been nice to meet up with folks along the way, but it just wasn’t that kind of a trip. Did spend four days in Quebec City though, and that was great. I think Guy lives at/near Mont Ste. Anne? Didn’t realize it was so close to the city. What a fantastic spot.
