I just felt a tiny earthquake.   My wife said "maybe"

It was like a car went by with a big subwoofer rumbling for about three seconds or so.  Confirmed with https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/stndon/wf-fo/index-en.php?channel=KGNO   a few minutes later.
They happen all the time, I just notice them now.

A friend was cycling on the rail trail when a stick flicked into her spokes, locked up the wheel, sent her over the bars, and smashed her elbow into pieces as she hit the ground. Talk about a painful freak accident.

This didn't cause an accident, but it was freaky, and I remember it like it was yesterday.

18 years ago (I would have been 19-20 y.o.) I was riding down a doublewide trail with a group, on our way to some sweet singletrack.  I think we were in Ancaster somewhere.  Anyway, I'm riding side-by-side with this other dude, and we're just cruising along at an easy pace, having a conversation about who knows what.  He's riding in the left track, and I'm riding in the right track.  All of a sudden, a squirrel darts out from the left side of the track, and flies right into this guys front wheel.  The squirrel gets caught in the spokes, goes around a few times, and then gets flung out to the right, ahead of my front wheel, and into the forest on the right side of the track.  It all happened so quick, we didn't have time to stop or anything.  I saw the entire thing.  Craziest thing I've ever seen on a bike, and I've seen some pretty effed up :censor:.

That is a great story. I've seen birds bounce off spokes, chipmunks make it between tires, but nothing like that. Imagine the stories that squirrel was telling. Also sounds like something in a Far Side cartoon.

Ugh.  I hope she was close to civilisation, and not all by herself.  What a nightmare.

When Farley was younger, maybe even his first year, I took him for a bike ride/run in the rain in the dark...and he stopped.  The leash was wrapped around my handle bar so the bike also stopped. Hard left, and no more.  I went over, took a knee to the bull horns (why were those ever invented!) which did not have its cap on it anymore...tore a chunk out of my knee skin.  Hobbled back to the house, every block hurting worse and taking longer than the last...facking dog!  >:(

Got a couple of stitches, no broken bones, and the horrid headache I'd had for at least the last 6 months?  Gone. Poof! Never to return.  Thanks...dog.  :( ??? :)

10 yrs later, he runs beside me, and I NEVER don't pay attention to where the leash is.  ;D

I recently found out that most people don't just KNOW how many days are in each month.  Apparently most people have a mnemonic to remember, or need to check a calendar.  I always thought everybody just knew off the top of their heads how many days are in each month.

I like using the one where you put your two hands together, go left to right, and all the knuckles are months with 31 days.

See, I just know them.  I constantly go over thoughts in my head though, and days in each month used to be one of them.

Yeah, I don't know how many days are in each month.  So if I need to know, I just look at a calendar.

Can't imagine I'm the odd one here.

Reminds me of a story a coworker told me way back. He was trying to log into his CRA account but he kept getting an error. So he calls in and the guy starts laughing. His birthday is February 29 but in the CRA system it was March 0.  ;D

I've just been around too long to forget.  :rofl2:  But I used to recite the old "30 days hath September..." in my head in the early days.

See?  Once again I'm floored that most people require some sort of device to remember this, rather than just knowing it.
