Still no sign of the little bugger.

But, the wife did comment that she thought one of the dogs had cleaned up the cat food dish that she didn't think they could reach. :-X

So this morning I woke up, went to the bathroom and while sitting on the throne a squirrel launches itself from the bathtub, flies across my lap  and runs out the door.  Dunno where he went
Should I tell my wife when she wakes up?
That must have been an exceptional poop!

You should be cleaned out now!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

So it's been four months since we moved downtown and I just did a quick check of how our car usage has changed. At about the same time, we also went from two car to one.

In the four months before moving downtown, we drove the Clubman about 9000 km and the Cooper 4000 km.

Since our move, we've driven the Clubman just 3300 km. This includes a ~1000 km road trip. So in day to day driving, we're averaging just over 500 km a month. This also means that our spending on gas has gone from $350 a month to about $60. That doesn't even take into account the current gas prices. Wow.

That's my favourite kind of math exercise.  ;D  And that's when I start putting the difference away into savings for a rainy day.

Going down to one car and driving less is saving us about $800 between the lease payment, insurance, and gas. And that doesn't account for maintenance and tires.

On the other hand, our new house is costing us about $600 more a month in higher mortgage payments, property taxes, water bill (had a well previously), and heating costs.

So still a net gain.  :)

Was there not a thread a month ago where you were thinking of changing your investment strategy?    Now interest rates are even closer to zero that they were then...

So this morning I get up, let the dogs out for a bit, come back in and as we're going upstairs notice something halfway up the stairs.

Garter snake, about a foot long.   Dogs thought it was interesting.
He was very docile, I put him out on some rocks and wood in the sun beside the garage .

Probably shouldn't tell the wife about this episode either.

No way I would tell my wife that, unless I really wanted to go through all the corners of the entire house

To some degree... ;D

Not really, but it's a 170 year old limestone  that used to be a carriage house for much of it's life.  I'm sure there are garter-snake sized cracks between the stones in a few places.   They very rarely come inside though.

I did manage to see where last week's squirrel was getting in.   I waited him out and next time he was at the birdfeeder I fixed that bit of soffit/fascia.   He was mad.
Later that evening I was hooking up the speakers I had moved in the garage.   As soon as I connected the left and it came on, loudly, that same squirrel was apparently sitting on it and it freaked him out, he jumped and squawked, so did I, and then he ran off and hid in the ceiling.    I left the music blaring and the door open all night.
