Is the trip to Europe by himself?  Is he staying with relatives?  I had some issues going on 8 years ago, went to visit my Mom in Spain for 5 weeks.  Did me some good.  Change of routine, scenery can be good.  If he is going alone, maybe postponing it be wise.  Or if possible, ask to go with him...

I am at a lose as what to do?

Our son who is 23, will be going to Europe in 3 weeks, has been behaving erratically for awhile. He's staying up till all hours of the night, getting very little sleep, eating one meal maybe two meals a day. I am sure that this is effecting his moods, as he goes from happy from to very depressed. Then there was an incident at work that has furthered his state of depression. He also wants to move out of home and get his independence, but because of his friend who would be sharing an apartment with, has only has his job for 4 months, so that is not flying well with potential landords. I can understand their concern, but our son takes each rejection personally.

He went to see the doctor the other day, which I thought may be related to his allergies, but it turns out he was very aware of his depressed state and thought he better get help. The doctor put him on Prozac, and I have not heard anything good about this medicine. He's been on the pills now for a few days, and his mood is even worse.

I am thinking of going to the family doctor, and discuss with the doctor, my concerns, and ask wether he is aware of his impending trip to Europe. Its a long flight and with his mood swings, I am worried that something could happen.

I know there is doctor/patient confidentiality, but I really think I need to have this talk.  I really don't want our son to know, but I want to make the doctor aware of what we see from the outside looking in, as he may not have told him everything. Any suggestion on how I should handle this delima?

I doubt that the doctor will discuss anything with you.  Your son is 23.  You could mention that the Prozac isn't helping, maybe a med switch is called for.

I hate following pickup trucks with loose crap in the back and the tailgate open.  After we both passed a slow moving Edge, he was gone, so at least I didn't have to follow him for very long.

A friend just informed (warned?)  me this Pan Am games thing is going on. How bad is it? Anyone have an idea if it'll affect us? We are heading into the city Friday afternoon, staying in the Martin Grove/Finch area at friends. Saturday we'll be heading for the Forest Hill area (Yonge/St Clair) to visit my mom via most likely surface roads. I tend to go across Lawrence and then down through the top of Forest Hill via side streets. I don't use the 400 series from habit from driving for a living in T.O. so not an issue there.

I did find a site with road closures but from what I see it's all along the bottom so I'm thinking I won't be anywhere near it? Just thought I'd see if anyone here feels different or if the city's been extra busy this week because of it? I usually take Airport Road down (I LOATHE Hwy 10!! lol) but thinking it may be one of the busy ones nearer the airport because of this? Of course I think Hwy 50 down through Bolton then Albion onto Martin Grove will be the plan and suspect no issues. But just in case. thought I'd ask. Still in my head so far so still need to map it but think I got it right.

Cheers!

You're staying near Finch and you're worried about the traffic?  :rofl2: :rofl2:

Well, worried isn't really the word. I figure as my friend does watch the news a lot and believes the media and it's hysteria inducement (To be fair he doesn't get out much due to health and watches TV a LOT!) it's probably nothing to actually worry about but thought I'd check with people who actually drive in the real world.

So I'll take it that T.O. is pretty much business as usual and ignore it as I expected to.

Don't worry about traffic; no one is attending anyway.
