6 laid off, 1 fired after 5 months.

???  That is either very unfortunate, or your need to pull your socks up.  I don't know you at all so am not judging, but is there some way you can train to get a skill that is more in demand? Or even more geared to what you want to do longer term?

I acquired a Ward Clerk certificate from Mohawk College, it took 1 year to get (I also have a dilpoma in Computer Science for Networking and Hardware), but I am staying away from those jobs.  Unstable, bad hours, stressful, and rarely within 50km.

So a Ward Clerk is admin position at a medical facility, hospital, doctors office, or walk-in clinic.  The demand is there, but getting into the hospitals is tough, they want you to know proprietary software, that the colleges don't have, and experience working in a health care environment.  So often they hire within, porters and such, looking to move up.

There is a private college that has training on the software, twice a year, june & sept.  2 weeks, $950.  So I may do that in september.  And by the time my wife gets her job in Oakville, I will be reporting to her!  :)    If it was only that simple.

As for the other jobs.  Many were just bad luck and timing.  KDS, Direct Buy, HP, Bell, and GE, both closed the offices where I worked.  So it wasn't just me.  These past two, one may have been fault, second one, just not busy enough in the off season I guess.

 :rofl2:  That will never change!

To keep the stability in the house, I won't look for anything in the summer.  Lower the kids from 4 days to 2 days in daycare.   Work on side jobs, lawns, upkeep to the house.  And enjoying the summer (not that I can afford to go anywhere), but the summers are short enough.  Guess in september I will sign up for that course.  And go from there...

Wish my wife would take online courses that are offered through her work.  They pay for it, and fit it in the work schedule.  Would have her more options for working different units in the hospital...

Just bought Magic Jack voip to use for our home.  Got it set up and connected.  My phone bill will drop from $40 a month to $40 a year.

Good bye Rogers...

If it wasn't for having an 11 year old in the house, I wouldn't bother at all and just have our cell phones.

I actually got carded last night at the liquor store! :o  I thought the lady was joking, but she was serious and had a very stern look on her face when I questioned her.  ???   She was an older lady and half blind (obviously) and I was wearing a ball cap and sunglasses, but come on lady I am 51 years old ffs!  I fumbled around my wallet for some photo id and passed her my drivers license.  She looked at the date and her demeanor changed instantly and had this stunned look on her face, then apologized for the inconvenience and told me not to tell anybody as she was embarrased.  I said are you kidding?!  I'm gonna milk this BIG TIME!   :rofl2:

My wife got carded a few years ago at the AC/DC concert and that was understandable as she actually looks 10 yrs younger than she is, but I really don't.  :P

I got carded at the LCBO a few times lately. I'm not 51 but at 34 I sure don't think I look 18.

Usually happens when I go after the gym and I'm dressed down.

I get carded at the gas station when I buy Colt sometimes, and at the LCBO, whenever I get haircut & shave.  But I do look 10 years younger than I am (34)

Its different if they always ask.  But when it's so random, or they ask people that are more than double the drinking limit, it's just a pain...

Currently brewing up an Oatmeal Stout which will be infused with Star Anise and sipping on a small glass of El Dorado 12.  Yet another late night in my brewery.

Just realized that come July I'll have only 6 months left on my lease. I think MB has a 'pull ahead' program that starts at 6 months remaining... #wonderwhattodo

Someone says they are coming from Toronto tomorrow to buy my 22" Cayenne wheels.
I wonder if they'll lowball me even though I sent pretty detailed photos and I think I'm asking a reasonable amount?
