Nothing a proper aftermarket track bar doesnt fix. There are so many benefits to a solid axle that " a rough ride" is really a miniscule downside when you consider all the bad point of any IFS system.
Lighten up Francis.....

I'm not talking about a rough ride, I'm talking about bouncing all over the road.

I used to be in the salmon business in NB. We had an F350 4x4 with the 7.3 Powerstroke and a 12' flat deck and a few 5 tonnes. Miserable bastards on bad roads.

I also had a Jeep YJ, a work F150 4x4 and a one tonne Toyota 4x2. The Toy and F150 were night and day better on crappy roads.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Im not arguing the ride is worse on the live axle vehicles, because it is, but they will survive the pounding much better and with less repairs than the IFS. My Cherokee took a pounding and was no worse for wear. I dont know, I think trucks are getting more and more fru fru and fragile.

Not in my experience.

Silly to ponder ride quality of empty heavy duty trucks on bad roads...of course they ride poorly. But add 4,000 pounds of cargo or a 12,000 pound trailer over thousands of miles and they come into their own. I used my Dodge as a daily driver over Manitoba's lousy roads and it wasn't that bad. Also travelled hundreds of kms on even worse gravel roads and the truck remained drivable...the GMs were good too, can't speak for the Fords. Excepts those old PowerStroke diesels were a disaster.

The last I saw the old flat bed it had 400K on it. No real issues considering the salt water and rough rural NB roads.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the 2012 GM's were rated to handle a snow plow with no effect on warranty.

Guess we shall see, seeing as Dodge sells lots of trucks in Canada.
i doubt i would ever buy a truck, but i have to admit, i have been seeing more and more Dodge Ram trucks, and they look pretty sweet...after seeing ads around town, you can get a nicely equipped Crew Cab 4x4 Ram for just under $30k with the V8 Hemi engine...pretty tough to beat.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Wasn't just referring to the Ram.

Still, there's a reason you don't see many plow trucks that are half tons unless they are for personal use.

Most people that plow are in landscaping, and usually have a heavy load most of time so they have hd  trucks
That is probably why you don't see many 1/2ton trucks with plows

Luckily i don't tow on a regular basis or have a man purse? I have a utility trailer for small jobs. Just can't justify owning one of these gas guzzlers as a daily driver.
