Meh. Maybe I'm getting old. Actually no maybe about it, but the way Porsche ream customers on options, I just couldn't consider it. This is an exercise for people more interested in the badge and showing the world how much money they can dole out than pretty much anything else as far as I can see.

I'd find it pretty much impossible to walk past the Nissan showroom with the $104k GT-R ($113k for the "Black") to look at one of these.

This is what baffles me, a stock $100K GT-R will walk all over most 911's, maybe the GT2 or the 4.0GT3 are close, and its a fraction of the price. Like I said, I love me some 911, but any company that charges over $3K for paint, i dont think I can support.
Lighten up Francis.....

Nissan seems to be doing some reaming of its own. The 2009 GT-R was $81,900. So a 2013 for $104,000 represents a 27% increase in four years.

But the performance of the vehicle has also increased greatly in those 4 years. ;)

The performance of the GT-R is in line with the 911 Turbo, and pounds the regular 911 into the ground.  And we're not talking about drag racing.  The GT-R accelerates like it's fired from a giant cannon, but it also posts ridiculously low lap times.

There are the never-drive-it-wash-the-badge 911 owners, but there are enthusiasts still buying these cars.  I used to meet them at track days, and they also weren't afraid to mod their cars.  911's have long been a popular car for alternations.  However, again, the GT-R comes out ahead here.  For the price of a loaded 911-S, you can drive an R800 or even an R850.  That car is in Veyron performance land!

yea, tough to beat the GT-R in terms of all out performance, while still spending "minimal" money.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

It seems the GT-R will get a twin from Infiniti.

http://www.motortrend.com/future/future_vehicles/1204_infiniti_super_g_with_530_hp_twin_v6_in_pipeline/

Except the '13 GT-R is already at 545hp...

Well of course...the GT-R is the halo car, so the Infiniti won't make as much HP....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...
