C'mon!!  Live a little!  Take that sucker on a road trip!!
we simply don't go anywhere that far...for long trips, we fly.

speaking of trips...i finally found out when rain sensing wipers show their value...on our trip back from Toronto on the weekend, we encountered some rain, so i had the wipers on...while i have already experienced the variable frequency in which they operate to keep the windshield clean, i found out when they truly shine...while passing a transport truck, as the increasing amount of "spray" is flying around, the wipers increase their speed, all the way up to "max speed and frequency", then settle back down after you have passed them...it prevents you from getting blinded in spray and messing around with your wiper controls while you are travelling at speed...it was quite cool.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

nothing will ruin your day/week/month/year/car more than a moose.

my current tank of gas, with the ActiveECO engaged and driving more responsibly is so far returning 7.3L/100kms...getting close to the rated number, although with the ActiveECO engaged (not sure how much of a difference it really makes though, considering its desire to upshift and get in the highest possible gear at all times).

well, i am about half way through my tank of fuel and turned off the ActiveECO...it may shave a few tenths of fuel consumption off, but i find it a little "annoying" in my commute...sometimes, you need to give it a little to change lanes, etc, and driving 60 km/hr in 6th gear is likely good for fuel economy, but forces you to mash the pedal to kick it down to 3rd or 4th in order to actually pull away without feeling like you are on a bicycle...the car behaves and drives much better with it off...the fact it isn't a Turbo also probably has something to do with it.

drove to Stratford and back with the cruise control on at an average of about 90 km/hr...fuel economy for that trip was 5.4L/100kms...i think the 4.9L rating is likely achievable at speeds around 75-80 km/hr...i am not sure of what the test is to get the rating, but likely flat ground, 80 km/hr seems to be doable.

The test is an average speed of 77 km/h with a maximum speed of 97 km/h.

Yea, you should be able to go 90-100 and achieve government rating.

The dealership called me today to let me know it just arrived.  I went in after work to see it, but it still had all the "protective wrap" on it.  I removed one of the wheel covers (so I could see the alloys), some of the seat covers (so I could see and feel the leather) and played around with a few controls for a bit.  Very nice looking inside and out.  I hope to pick it up tomorrow.  It looks identical to the attached photo.

For a car that's approaching 6 years old, I must say that it has aged really well.

How are you liking your Rio right now?

love it...it's been a great car...i plan on keeping it for 3-5 more years, as i'm thinking my next car might be an EV...i bought the extra 5 years/100k kms warranty (as i wasn't sure if Kia vehicles would last that long), but all i've done is regular maintenance and one set of brakes...fuel economy is usually high 6s in the summer and mid to high 7s in the winter with mostly city driving...i don't use the ECO feature is it really zaps the drive (shifts early, softens throttle, etc).

just thought i'd revisit this topic...made my last payment a couple of days ago...she's all mine now. :)

i'll still keep it for a few more years to get my money's worth out of the warranty (i bought it, i might as well keep it until the warranty is up)...the car has been great...i'll likely be looking for new winter rubber this fall.

Glad it's been solid for you. How's the body holding up? Any fading in the paint or headlight housing? Pictures of your ride right now are always welcome, too :)

it's in great shape...i'm likely going to get both vehicles detailed next month (like to get them done once a year)...i'll try to remember to grab some photos (and hopefully remember how to post them on here again).
