For various reasons we have decided to replace Mrs. Mango's 2003 Corolla LE with a proper family truckster. The search began as most do with a budget between 30K-45K and testing just about everything we could get within that price bracket new and CPO. Being that she will keep this car for at least 5 years (most likely) we wanted something that would be able to grow with our family, and be luxurious enough that we wouldn't yearn for something nicer in two years.
Her favorite going into this was the RX 350 but after comparing pricing, test driving, looking at space and features, the MDX won the day as being the better value - and to us a better all around car.
Runners up (beyond the RX350) included the new Grand Cherokee, Cadillac SRX, and the Toyota Highlander Limited.
Anyway, I purchased this for her from Troy Michigan as a CPO with 12000 miles. The car had previously been the dealer service shuttle. It's mint with nary a scratch and the car was purchased for no less than $10000 less than a similar unit in Canada. Being that there is NO DUTY for importing a MDX it was one heck of a good deal. Also, being that the 2010 is the exact same as the 2012 (the big changes occurred in 2010) there was between a 25K and 30K savings over 2012 MSRP in Canada.
The technology package is the key package to get with the already well-equipped MDX. Iit adds Navi (with Acura Link), Milano premium leather, ELS surround sound system with HDD and USB ipod dock, the voice recognition system, bluetooth, and some other things here and there.
Dealer installed accessories already on the car are the sport running boards (key), trailer hitch (good for cottage), and the roof rails.
I wanted her to get a wagon, but alas she insisted on an SUV. Being that she lets me buy whatever I want car-wise who am I to argue with her when it comes time for her own ride.
Finally, we don't really care about the 7 seats as we will keep the third row folded flat to make sure an excellent sized trunk. This was actually one of the KEY features for going with the MDX. I will do an update and a more in-depth comparison with the other competitors we drove in a couple weeks.
Special thanks to Rrocket for driving to the dealer to check out the car for me before I drove down there. For now, enjoy some pictures:
