I remember that test too...one one where the Rag does not nothing to match price of the cars tested. Instead of a Accura and Infiniti up against an A4 and a 328 they load up a 335i and a S4. Pu-lleeeasse. Who's going to cross shop those two in the same breath? Maybe they should've found them selves a supercharged G37S and tried that against the S4.

I didn't think comparing these cars is out to lunch, price wise. After all, they are comparing 300+ HP cars. A G37X AWD with Sport package is ~$49K. An S4 is $53K. An Acura TL AWD+Tech is $47K and the BMW 335i X drive is ~$52K.
Dude, go put your glasses on.
Read the same damn article.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/comparison/four-door-firepower
Audi S4 - $58675
Acura - $44,195
BMW 335I - $47,625
G37S - $40,085
That's $18K between the G and the S4.

I don't need to put my glasses on. I'm aware of what was tested. Of course there's a big price spread. The G37S was RWD and it was compared to a couple AWD cars.
If we compare it to the way you want (against regular A4), there's a $10K difference against the G37x AWD. That's even less "fair" compared to a G37X AWD and an S4...in both HP and price. Apples to apples, AWD to AWD, HP to HP...the prices I quoted are in line. And besides...not sure why you are saying the G37 needs a supercharged engine vs. the S4...since they both make nearly the same HP (333 vs 330).
I was posting Canadian prices with similar levels of equipment. All AWD, all manual transmission, ..cars you or I would shop for. And they are all in line. I chose the G with the "Sport" package because that's what most closely matches the content of the S4...and that's the way I'd want my G.
The only car with Navi was the TL . I chose the "Tech" package is because that's the only trim you can get a manual in.
Sometime magazines get stuck with whatever car the manufacturer sends them. They can't pick and choose trim packages for test fleet cars. That's not the case when you or I go shopping. And the Canadian prices I posted reflect that and are in line with each other in price or content.
So again...if I was shopping for an AWD sports sedan, I think the prices compare favorably with one another. FWIW, the IS350 AWD with Moonroof is $48,700. So it's also in the ballpark..though no manual.
