Tortoise.  What are her choices?  And on which have you lowered your foot and why?

Here's a few.

Kia Sportage - she loves it. I want a manual so that means it's only FWD.  It would be impossible to sell if we wanted to and I just think the depreciation would be much more than the AWD model.  Considered leasing but we've done 30,000 km a year for the last 5 years. We may be driving a bit less over the next little while but I don't want to always be worried about km's.

Mini Countryman (leased) -  :P

Mazda CX-7 - She loves them.  Too hard on fuel and the 2.5 GX is auto only.

Only the slow and dim know where they're going in life, and seldom is it worth the trip. - Tom Robbins.

I think the Fit might be a good fit.  Really depends on your family size, lifestyle and how much stuff you like hauling around with them.

For the immediate future it will be two kids under 3, travel to visit family often to go to the cottage, skiing etc.  The P5 is frequently packed to the gills with just one kid.

We could make a Fit work but in the end I would prefer something slightly larger.  Also, prices for used Fits are a little high.  ~14,000 for an 07 with 70,000 km.  There's better asking prices but not by much.

IS300 - too bad the sportcross is auto only.

Agreed.  I really like the IS300's.  I'd also consider the TSX.

I wonder what's wrong with this - http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Honda/Insight/NEPEAN/Ontario/19_4365692_/

You mentioned TSX eh? ;D

http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Acura/TSX/THORNHILL/Ontario/5_11316524_ON20071121102621749/ (the optional wood accessory is nasty...). Surely you can bargain down the price.

Yeah, the TSX is a solid rational buy.

Hmmm.  Also always liked the Merc. B200.

Damn, I really need to shorten this list.

Well perhaps not surprisingly, everyone on here has discounted the HHR SS.  270 hp, launch control, no-lift shift, 57 cubic feet of cargo - boo ya!

Clearly the dash isn't soft enough...

http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Chevrolet/HHR/ST%20CATHARINES/Ontario/5_10883122_ON20090605155412769/

They can be had in the states for 11,500 and the same km's.

Damn, that'd be way more fun than an element.

I saw an HHR SS launch from a stoplight back in Fredericton. That sucker hauled! :skid:

That dash is terrible - who cares!

Show me one for $11,500 with the same km and I'll take it.

My bad - it was an LS.  Late night, a few beer - thought only manual HHR's were SS's.

Cheapest is an 08 with 40,000 miles - 17,000.  Would surprise a lot of pricier iron.

Haven't had any time to drive anything lately.

Shame this is just outside of our budget.

Listed as a standard but the pics show an automatic.

A 2006 V70R should go for high teens out East now. Unfortunately I was getting 13L/100km in mixed driving. About the same as my Ridgeline....

Pretty sure the pics show a manual.  Look at the pedals.

Decent R's are asking a little over 20k... "Asking".

Look again, that third pedal is a dead pedal, not a clutch. The shifter is a dead giveaway, that is an AUTO shifter. I rowed a V70R manual for four years and had a few auto courtesy cars. That be an auto.

There was a guy on V70R.com that was an auto broker in the US. I am sure he could find you a nice R for $15k...

Had another look..You may be right that does look like a clutch pedal...Shifter looks wrong though. ???

I always thought the "knob" was similar to the Rs but I guess not. Anyhow lob a lowball offer in there! The R's were hard on fuel.
