Interesting history write-up on the Continential name and its dual use through the late 50's and 70's.  Those lucky 1975 owners finally got 4 disc brakes to help anchor this 5,000+lb beast (and only a 212 hp motor to move it - suddenly the NA 4 banger Sonata doesn't seem so underpowered)! Loving the 70's brown exterior and interior shots on page 2.

My Father had a Continental and a couple of Town Cars in the 70s.  Man, were they big cars!!  It would take me forever to detail a car that size today!   ;D

My first hand me down car if my own was a 1976 town car. 460 with the 4 barrel. What a beast. Great car to learn in tho.

I always like Bill Vance's articles.  However, in the case of this Mark IV article, there's an interesting story behind the story too.  I noticed a photo credit on page two "CarDomain.com user KoldingDenmark." and wondered what the Danish connection is.  The link took me to (a URL I cannot post) and Mogens' story about buying the big Lincoln and shipping it to his home in Kolding.

Occasionally, I borrow photos (always with a photographer credit) from the web for Bill's articles; his own aren't always good enough to use. Glad these ones led you to an interesting story. Here's the link, for anyone interested: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2522596/1975-lincoln-mark-iv-all-trims. Images of the newspaper article are about two-thirds of the way down the page.
I used to work here.

Hi
Interesting to see my car posted here.   :)
Feel kind of honoured.
I usually add photos to the link every year.
Have enjoyed the car for 10 years now.
Kind regards

We never had Frank Cannon, starring William Conrad, on Danish television ever, but in the 1970's we could watch him with German television (dubbed into German), which we had to live with. That was how I became aware of the beautifull Continental Mark IV cars. I have the episodes from 1971 and 1972 on DVD and waiting for the episodes from 1973 to be released.

Wasn't one of these (along with some sort of similar Buick) the American entry in Top Gear's "The Worst Car Ever"?

If so, they have proven themselves to be idiots.

Yeah I saw that episode it was ridiculous.

What was ridiculous was those two useless Detroit behemoths wallowing around like a pair of drunken Hippopotami. I found it hilarious. The 70's have to be the absolute low point of North American automobiles.  ::)
