I recently test-drove a 2012 2u w AT. Liked the power for such a small vehicle, but hated the driver's seat and could not find a good adjustment. Not a serious contender for wife's HL replacement, off the list for the Spring.

"different strokes for different folkes" my wife and I had absolutely no problem with the driver's seat and found it very comfortable, with the now standard telescopic steering wheel it made it even better.  (There is an 8" difference in height between me and my wife.).  We just set the steering wheel, adjusted the height and then when my wife drove all she had to do was pull the seat forward and adjust the inside mirror the same as she does on our current vehicle.

What is a HL?

Man, am I ever NOT a fan of the endless SOULSOULSOULSOULSOULSOUL... script circling the interior like an endless marquee banner.  I sure hope that's not there on all trim levels.

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Not sure if you've seen it in person but my wife and I liked it, but to each his own.  That is only on the 2u and 4u models.  The 1.6L has a different interior black/grey the 4u Retro had a two-tone black and tan interior with beige tartan patterned cloth insert in the seats; the 4u Burner has a two-tone red and black interior with red/black cloth seats and the 4u Luxury is black/grey with black leather seats.

Don't have to - unless it's somehow invisible in person.  It looks fugly and tacky, to boot.  I wouldn't like it any better if it were SONATASONATASONATASONATASONATA printed all over the interior of my car.  I know what model I'm driving.  I don't need half a hundred reminders for interior wallpaper.  But yes, to each his own.  Good to know that you can choose models that don't have that.

This is one of the only small cars on the market that I like. If it was available with awd and a diesel, Id be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.
Lighten up Francis.....

Shouldn't it matter if the wife finds the car comfortable rather than you if it's her car??

BTW...the Soul is still the best selling sub-compact in the USA.  I would have never guessed...but color me impressed.

yesterday I traded in my 2008 Rondo EX and purchased a 2012 Soul 4u with 6 speed auto.  The colour is Mint (green) and some of the main features are UVO with back up camera; 18" machined alloy wheels; cruise control; Infinity sound with 8 speakers and mood lights on front door speakers; power slide and tilt sunroof.
We are looking forward to enjoying our new set of wheels, hope its as trouble free as the Rondo.
