Boy, there is a LOT of stuff going on there styling wise.  The proportions actually look worse than the concept to my eyes.  Black likely the best colour for it.

Hey rrocket, all those louvers and ducts better be functional eh?   ;)

Well, the new 2.0L in the 2012 Impreza is set to make 148HP, so I wouldn't expect it to be to high  :(  Let's hope a Turbo comes out soon, but that would put it in the mid 30's easy.

I love the looks...hate the wimpy powertrain.  Hopefully they come to their senses and offer the turbo.  Though I suppose 200(ish) HP MIGHT be OK depending on curb weight.

And yea, not fond of the rear lower splitter, TG.  I doubt it will make it to production.  One nasty bump and that thing is gone....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Still if the goal is "inexpensive" RWD sports coupe then having a non-turbo version with a reasonable amount of horsepower but not totally overwhelming is a good thing to have. It's all been done to try and recapture the feel of the AE-86 which was fairly cheap but capable sports coupe.

This will all come down to curb weight....

Agreed...if you have little weight, you don't need a lot of power...nor a lot of any torque to have fun!   ;D

After two small sports coupe styling disappointments in a row (the bland CRZ and the fugly Veloster), this is just a breath of fresh air. What a kick to open the garage door every morning and see that waiting for me.

I could do without some of the power if the handling is good. First a daring looking Lexus and then this? Toyota is on it's way back!!!

Bear in mind, much will change.  Mirrors will be bigger, wheels likely different, splitter will change, possible lense changes and maybe even the hood/bumper to conform to pedestrian crash laws.

We'll see...but it's a good start.  Plus the new GS is looking good too IMO...

2700 lbs (approx) 170 hp (?) -- driver and car as one -- a perfectly balanced small sportscar ! ( engine is placed behind the front wheels )  designed with drifting in mind .
ANY teenagers wet dream

You know I wish it was coming as a Toyota and not a Scion. But ok. I wonder if Toyota will be pushing more sporting pretensions on Scion with the launch of this.
....

A quick scan found this comment wasn't built upon.  Branding this a Scion is a mistake.

If the purpose is to resurrect Scion, then I'd say your wasting a potentially good product on a dead brand.  If the purpose was to inject some sporty driving into Toyota, then I'm not sure how that would spill over.

Is Scion a dead brand Stateside?  I thought it was doing well --- and ideally targeted at youthful drivers.  If this new offering is a low-cost performance car (perhaps to replace the tC?), I fail to see the issue here.
