Hybrid SUV's

Are there any decent hybrid SUV's out there, with much better mpg than the non-hybrid version?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Escape hybrid has the best fuel economy. Getting up there in age though.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Boss at work has a hybrid Highlander - he averages around 11.5 / 100 and is one of the most lead-footed people I know.
Pretty damn good mileage for the size of the thing.  Reliability has been perfect too.

Waiting for a diesel hybrid. The engine in the ML is capable of 11.1 city and 8 highway. Add a hybrid to that!

Some folks just want to burn less gas and aren't overly concerned with payback.

Are you looking for AWD or just a SUV for size?

Size. With kids you always need to buy things that don't fit in a hatch. Plus sometimes I just like the height, so does the missus.

LOL I know!  But the amount of times I have bought stuff that doesn't fit in the car, or just fits means I need something of a similar size to replace the Outlander at some point.  So much as I would want a large sedan, it just isn't going to work for this vehicle.  The size of boxes that kid's stuff comes in is ridiculous.  And hey, at least I'm not saying I'll get a minivan... NEVER!!

I know you said SUV for the added height but there are still a couple of good wagon choices that offer as much or more space than some SUVs do and would have as good or better fuel economy.

Passat
Golf Wagen
Elantra Touring
