Hey it's quite easy with gas too.  See that firey looking bit, don't put your hand in it.

Had the LG for a few days now. So far I am very happy with it. Close to 50% faster boiling water compared to the old radiant electric smoothtop (same pot). The real beauty is the precision of the heat delivery. Keeps things boiling, simmering etc perfectly. Adjustments in power are immediate. Should be a lot less boil overs now...
