Quote
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Mazda is recalling about 52,000 Mazda6 sedans, because yellow sac spiders like to build their nests in part of the fuel system.

"A certain type of spider may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent line and this may cause a restriction of the line," Mazda said in a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
....
It's unclear why this particular spider -- the yellow sac spider -- seems to prefer the model year 2009 and 2010 Mazda6, company spokesman Jeremy Barnes said. All modern cars have the same type of equipment.

"Maybe they just like cars that go 'Zoom-Zoom," he said. "We honestly don't know."

 Get back you eight-legged freaks!  :rofl2:

Maybe they like sniffing gas for cheap thrills.

Or the design of the vent line is the right shape and size for them to reside.

It's not even April Fools yet.  This sounds like some kind of joke.

Is there not some safety thing about spiders nesting in gas BBQs and causing problems as well?

Yes, they may reside in the burner tube and orifice in the BBQ.   Before BBQ season, check and clean them out.  They can cause low gas flow to your burners.

I haven't had spiders in my BBQ, I had a wasp nest in my BBQ.  I lit the grill and ran.  :)

Nope.  I don't kill bees.  I need them to pollen my veggie garden and pear tree.
