Sorry, first time I've seen it.

That is an awesome vid.  Man, does that ZR-1 ever sound nice.  And the video of the speedometer rate of increase is incredible.

No kidding, the acceleration rate is incredible.  And you're right, that ZR-1 sounds amazing!

Has anyone else on here watched the racing Corvette's, like in the GT series in Europe? The sounds they made at Le Mans was amazing! Very memorable.

Hmmmm, I wonder why they didn't run the 911 GT2 with 620 HP to the Corvette's 638 HP.

Dunno - Here's a quote from the article - And maybe next time Stuttgart shows up with a car more up to the gauntlet dropped by the ZR1, like the RWD 620 horsepower GT2 RS. Until then...the Porsche Turbo is an incredibly potent and precise scientific achievement, but the Corvette ZR1 is a fever dream.

The 911 Turbo was already 25% higher on the as tested price.  Also, the GT2 is RWD...maybe it would have been closer at the drag strip where the 911 stomped the ZR1.

Personally, I'm waiting to see the "new" 2012 GT-R vs. ZR-1, since the GT-R will crush the 911.

And hopefully a lot better looking. The present GT-R didn't do a thing for me, styling-wise.

OT, I wonder how many would buy a car on numbers alone?

Yeah, not bad on 138 less HP. But on the track, there is only one start, so this 0-60 thing is a small part which only has meaning to kids running from traffic light to traffic light.

Why can't you get a Corvette with decent recing seats, that's shocking...

And why can't Americans say Le Mans properly? It's not Le Monz!

Of course the GT-R didn't do anything for you.  You like cars that look the same for their whole 40+ year life span.  ;D

And I think the GT-R looks great.

I have always had a soft spot for Corvettes.  There was some periods when they were pretty diluted, but the last number of years has brought mind-numbing performance at prices far, far below the Germans or Italians.  Sure, it lacks some of the refinement and other stuff, but the monster V-8 is actually cutting edge, the suspension is race-car capable, and the overall package is focused on crushing performance.

What impresses me the most is the passion.  The Corvette feels like some rowdy guys with big brains were tasked with "bring the badass!"  As much as I love Porsches, their newer products are almost too German.  Okay, the turbo is faster than a lot of race cars, but where are the rough edges of 993 and older products?  Anyone drive the first of the 3.6L turbos?  THAT was a rowdy car!!

I'd buy the ZR-1 and some Recaros.  With the change I'd buy an STi winter beater.

I'm hoping GM doesn't ruin the next Corvette with some retro POS thing.  Continue what has been happening....C4 to C5, C5 to C6, C6 to C7.  Always a bit sportier, racier, but still a Corvette.  Please, please, please no retro.

Even so, the average age of a Corvette owner is 50+.  And 50% of Vettes come with simple automatics...nothing special like a dual clutch deal.

It looks....typically Japanese. So does the interior. Which is why I did not like the interior of the 997.

And the 550 or 575 Maranello is not 40 years old.
