Cars in Mexico
« on: February 20, 2011, 12:21:30 pm »
Just got back from my 1st holiday in Mexico[which was excellent], it was cool to see so many cars and trucks not sold in Canada or the US. Some of these vehicles I think could be sold or could have been sold in Canada. VW Crossfox, VW Amarok[ small 4 door truck], VW Crafter TDI full size van. The Crafter is very similar to the Sprinter van which sells very well in Canada.  Really wish Renault was sold in Canada again. They have some really cool vehicles.  Hyundai has some really bizarre units sold there, that for sure would not sell in Canada. They also sell cars rebadged as Dodge products. Chevrolet sells some cars that must be rebadged products, not sure who makes them. Most popular car there is the Nissan Tsuru[ Sentra here]. They are everywhere. Just about every taxi is one, seems like just about every driveway has on parked in it.
We never drove there but took shuttles or taxis, the roads were excellent. The drivers were no worse then what we see here in Edmonton. For sure not the stereotypical drivers I've always heard about.
Enjoying the Alberta advantage

From my trips to Mexico, the most common car there that I've seen is the VW Beetle.  They are pretty much everywhere!!  You're right though, there are a number of vehicles sold there that aren't here.  It's even more fun seeing all of the different vehicles that are sold in Europe.

We were in the same area over Christmas and noticed the large percentage of VW models.  Big black SUVs sure stand out...

Big black SUVs sure stand out...

Especially when all the passengers are armed with automatic weapons. ::)
