It looks questionable in places, like how did they figure out the cargo score?:  ???

Yah seriously... the Highlander and Sorento only have ~290L... WHEN THE THIRD ROW IS UP! So fold the seats down to match the five passenger capability of the Edge and it would've been a fair comparison. I don't think it would've given the Highlander enough points to get to 1st place, but sheesh.

Or any score.

Like what is the difference between 7.3 and 7.4 for interior score? Do they have a meter that they read after scanning the vehicle?

These ratings are so subjective and fixed, it is laughable.

Glad to see the expert panel recognizing the tremendous product that GM is now producing, unbiased by outdated, false myths about import superiority. :)

BTW, the old Canadiandriver link given in the first post is now broken in the post-apocalyptic era of autos.ca .

I've test driven the Edge and while I didn't care for the whole "My Touch" thing, the car is a significant step forward. It drove very well and it was nicely finished inside and out. I can certainly see how it won it's catagory.

In terms of the Cruze,  I've walked around and sat in one in the showroom but not driven one. It strikes me as a good, decent design in a segment crowded with good decent designs. From the reviews I've read it's power and handling are competitive but not remarkable. I guess I don't see it as a standout  (unless you only compare it to what it replaced.)
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

The video remains the same size in 'full screen'.

I don't see any explanation of how the winners are picked.

Did you produce the video? If not, what is your watermark doing on it?

Welcome to the forum  :)

Yup that is it basically, 30-40 people drive the car and then rate each cat on 1-10 and then it is averaged.

Most cars are so good now the difference is minor, as it should be.

Still so subjective and if they are all used to a certain style of vehicle, something new and strange might not be scored well even if is is better.

It took a while for North Americans to get used to and accept Asian vehicles. At first, many still bought from the big four (at that time), because that is what they were used to and grew up with. They soon figured out what was better.

All the journalists drive all the cars they aren't just coming off the street. There isn't anything so different that it can't win.

If anything being different can be an advantage in a sea of blandness and sameness

And that's still going on. Except that now they're realizing that the better car is from a domestic manufacturer.
