Although very cute, I don't think it's an effective ad at all.  So is the point?  It has standard remote start?

This is my fav Vader ad - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81fwEmP2CKY

Kind of amusing, but I don't get it?

Also I thought it was a Jetta.

The new Passat has been made generic like the new Jetta.

I suspect the ad may be better than the car.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Yah I like the Beetle ad. The Passat ad is just trying to inject some excitement into an otherwise boring vehicle.

Best VW ad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad4fagTyaM4

 :rofl2:

I think the all time best VW ad went like this:

Late at night or early ( pre dawn morning)  A woman who looked like Princess Di lets herself out of a house. She throws her fur coat into a bin. She takes off a diamond ring and throws it ( IIRC) down a drain. She is just about to throw the car keys away and she see the VW logo on them  so she keeps them, gets into a Golf (IIRC could have been a Polo) and drives off.   It got banned. Not because of the Diana look alike but because the background music was a Hymn tune... which I cannot remember the name of, but a famous one in C of E terms anyway. Some people complained.

FOUND IT! good old YouTube  how did we exist without the 'net.  I have no idea what the Hymn words are. AHA it is "What a friend we have in Jesus"
And I see my memory is not quite accurate

We were taught (albeit briefly) that the effectiveness of an add was to convey an important benefit of the thing you were advertizing.  Being funny and creative is nice...but if it's not attached to the "thing", then it's not very useful.

Here's the one I recall seeing:

Exactly right. The same point I was making over in the Kia Optima thread.

False advertising though. There is no frost on the inside of the VW's windows. ;)

Probably just boils down to that a lot of 35-50 year old men:
1) like/love Star Wars
2) are family men and love their kids
3) buy family sedans

Well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad.

Hey I noticed that you didn't say "are family men and love their wives and kids".   ;D
