Groundhog Day Storm
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:15:19 am »
So it looks like we are going to get hit pretty good with this storm.  I am pumped to ahhh...er....make only needed trips in my Subaru during the storm.  :skid:

It appears the southwest of Ontario is going to get hammed by the storm while the north east gets off lightly.  What the hell is Detroit and (to a lesser degree) Windsor going to do with 30-40CM of snow???  The cities will be crippled.  I lived in windsor for several years and Rrocket can back me up on this one.  Thier snow removal is lacking.

Hamilton-Oakville getting 30CM and Toronto getting 20-30CM will be chaotic enough.

Rob Ford is probably too fat to fit in the hatch of an armoured personnel carrier.

Anyone else thought snow removal after every storm we've had this winter in Toronto has been lacking?

I just moved to Oakville before the winter.  I find it lacking there this year, but I am not sure if it is just lacking compared to Markham's

Life will go on just fine as long as the electricity & gas is flowing.

I will probably work from home. The snow isn't the problem (my Outi can get me through quite a bit of snow and 30 cm is nothing for it); the drivers on the road is the real problem.

Media is making such a big deal out of a snowstorm, in the winter, in Canada. It seams like they have nothing better to jump on these days (the unrest in Egypt and other countries in the region doesn't bump up the ratings I guess).

Looks like it will be pretty routine here in NB (calling for 25-35cms or 20-30 cms or "up to 20cms" depending on who you listen to). Just the normal  "weekly" snowstorm the way this year is going. ;D

I see we may get another 20 or so Saturday night into Sunday  ::)

No kidding eh.  It's amazing how different the weather forecasts are around here.  They may as well say 0-50cms of snow for every storm and be done with it.   ;D

:rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: @ Quad... you beat me to it!

I was actually thinking it might be fun to snowshoe into work, then I realized that I'd have to leave at around 3 AM to get there for 9...  ;D

Plus, we're all set up to work from home, so I can't say that I'll be out there enjoying it.

I will be at work tonight until 3am.  The Echo hasn't let me down in the deep stuff yet....

Windsor snow removal is much better than it was...a (somewhat) competent mayor has that effect.  I live out in the county and the snow removal out here is much better.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Good to hear, I remember snow rut side streets after 10-20CM snow falls (you know, the rare ones)  ;)

Not to worried... although last time we got that much snow overnight, classes were cancelled. :D Still waiting to hear what happens to my place of work if the school closes, though...
