Consumer reports owners

Mooch Mooch  ;D

I know a few subscribe.

It's that time of year again, time for a new laundry pair... okay I don't buy a new one every year but ours are 3 years old and they are staying and we are leaving so we need a new set.

Don't want to spend a fortune.

There are some very cheap deals out there, like Samsung sets for under a grand.  This seems like a lot of washer / dryer for the money (includes steam as well).

We recently picked up a Samsung front loader. Wife loves it.  Its uber quiet, and wouldn't you know it, the clothes come out clean  :rofl2:
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

We also picked up a Samsung front loading pair last summer.  Extremely quiet and we've been pleased with them so far.  We ended up getting our pair on sale half price for $999.00 so it was a no brainer for us.

When we moved to the new house, 7 years ago I guess, we bought a Kenmore front loader washer/dryer.

One thing of note:  the paint/coating in the dryer drum flakes/peels off, about 1/4 of it has come off now.  When you  take a load out of the dryer, you'll often find a piece about an inch or two square in among the clothes.  Started when the dryer was only a couple of years old.

Not sure I'd ever buy another Kenmore, but then again, how many different manufacturers are there really?  I'd definitley get another front loader, but probably different brand.
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

Just went thru this in November, and did a lot of research and shopping. Nobody makes a top-loader that is of much quality any more so for a few hundred dollars more it makes sense to get a decent front loader for the energy savings. Samsungs seem to have some troubles as do Whirlpools and GEs. I learned that Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and has had lots of problems over the last decade, so their past reputation for quality is no more. Sad. Surprisingly Bosch also seems to be troublesome. Good reports abound on LGs and that's what I bought. Best decision I ever made. Great machines, super-quiet, stainless drum, very water-stingy, overall works very well. If you want the pedestals and designer colors you can spend $2K on a pair, but mine are white and are high enough not to need the pedestals and I paid just about $1K plus taxes for the ones I found on sale. Buy the LG, you won't be sorry.

BTW, some Kenmores are made by LG, some not. Their feature sets may be different and recent disappointments at Sears led me elsewhere. YMMV.

$1k for the pair is my goal or not much more anyways.  Those pedestals are a scam, $200 a piece for a piece of tin to raise it up, duh.

Was looking at the brick yesterday most sets are in the $1500 range, when I bought 3 years ago I didn't pay that much.  But they seem to all be fancy colours, whatever white is fine by me.

It was easy enough to scope out the profit margins and therefore negotiating room.  There was a floor model on sale from $2500 - $2100 and I asked if it included the pedestals and the guy said no but he could include it at that price.  So I guess there's another few hundred in negotiating room.

All but the last one from future shop are TINY...

Samsung WF210ANW with the matching dryer seems to be what everyone lists for $1400 on sale for $999 all the time.

I'll email my guy at the brick tomorrow see if I can get the set for $1000 taxes in

Yeah, wasn't sure what size you were looking for........just wanted to post some sets in your price range.  If your needs aren't urgent and have some patience, you'll be able to find some great deals.

Got a great deal on a Bosch pair (500 series), simple to operate, built like a a tank. Had Sears match a sale at the Brick $1995.99 for the pair - didn't get the stands, they are a rip-off. Will build a stand for both.
