I test drove a 2007 Acura CSX. I thought it suffered in comparison with the 2005 Mazda 3 we already owned. Like one other poster here, I found the parking brake lever was a real pain for leg room (and I'm only 6'1"). I thought the ride comfort, noise level, power, and handling were all considerably better in our Mazda. I'm sure the CSX/Civic gets better mileage, though.
I have a 2009 Honda Accord 4 cyl that I think is quite a nice car and it gets great mileage so I'm not a Honda basher. But I'm surprised the Civic outsells the Mazda 3.

I'm not.  Honda has superior fuel mileage and reliability.  That's what people most want in a commuter car.  And if we factor in the questionable smiley face styling of the new 3, I'm not surprised at all the Honda outsells it.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Agreed.  Additionally, the word about the rust issues with the 3s seems to have made the rounds as well - that`s tough to hide.

Why I chose the Civic over the 3 was styling and reliability. Both cars are fun to drive, and each have their own quirks. But that smiley face on the 3....Ugh    :o

True.  My Dad bought a 2010 Corolla and didn't consider the Mazda 3 thanks to the rust issue.  Has it been resolved?  Maybe.  But, he didn't want to take a chance.  The 3's fuel economy is poor in the class as well, a strong factor for him as he logs 40K or so a year.
