It is on Subaru's for sure.  Believe so on the Forte as well. It's become standard on many cars now.

I'm pretty sure it is that way with GM too.

Subaru lights aren't quite auto though.  They will turn on and off with the car when left in the on position, but will not turn on automatically when it gets dark out

Semantics... ALL cars should do that IMO.  It's dead simple.

Semantics or not, what a car should do or not, the information provided should be accurate from someone who reports on cars for a living and supposedly (!!!) knows his stuff.

Standard <> Available

Incidentally, this is one feature in my "must have" list so I check it out the very first time I read the spec sheet a the car.

Not to be a PITA, but FYI: Impreza = Nope, Forte = Nope.

It is standard on certain trim(s) of certain compact models. Unfortunately more compact cars don't have this option than they do so it's far from becoming "standard on many cars".

This feature is called "Auto-off" lights and indeed it is present on some cars, including Subaru and Mitsu standard on all trims.

Subaru doesn't call it auto but they shut off auto, which is what you want.   And all of them have it.

Mazda3 yup I like how you ignored that to make your point.  Oh sorry it isn't on the gx, well not like anyone buys those haha

I'll rephrase to say almost every single car offers the option.  I can't remember the last car I had to manually turn the lights off and on in.

I did some digging as I remembered my 2006 Cobalt had auto lights.  All cobalts had fully auto lights and so does the new Cruize.  So there is one  ;D

My 1996 Camaro had them to which blew me away.

You need to create an IMDB page  :rofl2:

Speaking of the RVR, I drove through the mitsu Canada parking lot yesterday and counted 8 blue RVR's out of 11 there (although they are probably white today)

Mazda3 yup I like how you ignored that to make your point.  Oh sorry it isn't on the gx, well not like anyone buys those haha

"Automatic headlights" or "Auto On/Off headlights" = turn On AND Off automatically based on the environmental light intensity (dusk sensor).

"Auto Off" headlights = turn OFF only when the engine is shut off. They turn ON when you start the engine AND only if you left the stalk in the ON position.

I did not ignore Mazda3. It simply does not have the Automatic headlight standard on all trims, just like the other models you mentioned.

I'll rephrase to say almost every single car offers the option.  I can't remember the last car I had to manually turn the lights off and on in.

I would agree more with the rephrased statement.

Let me help you with that: your are now driving a Forte5 LX right? Don't forget to turn the headlights on at night. According to Kia's spec sheet, it doesn't have automatic headlights control (they don't turn on automatically at night). It's standard on the SX though.

Here's a remote but kind of serious link I can come up with.

This will not be your last TV appearance as you will climb the auto journalism rankings. Remember to always check your facts and know your stuff before you speak in front of the camera.
The same should be true with the written media, but I believe on TV you have more people scrutinizing you when you'll become a TV star.

The RVR has standard Auto Off lights. The GT you drove on the show has Auto On/Off headlights.

I hope I touched on both key points.  ;)

So let me get this clear; some people like having no control over their lights and not being able to shut them off?  ???
