ohh.. blueberry! getting fancy!

how many different things do you have going at a time?

I've brewed 46 different beers commercially, but only have five different ones brewing at any one given time.  :)

Sampled my first Lager brew today. After a couple of weeks sitting in bottles it is pretty well carbonated. Just need to lager it in the fridge for a week or two and it will be ready to drink. So far so good.

Looks great Flinter!  How's the brewing been going?

I kegged my Coffee Porter yesterday.

That Coffee Porter does look delicious. The breakfast drink of champions!!

I've been really enjoying learning more and more about the brewing process. So far I've done an American Pale Ale, a Kolsch, and now a German Lager. The Kolsch seemed to get the best reception so far but this new Lager seems promising.

I need to take the next step now and buy some kegging gear. This whole bottling thing is the most painful part of the process.

It's called a Kölsch.. and pursuant to EU legislation, it is only allowed to be called a Kölsch if it is brewed within 50km of Köln (Cologne)... Therefore, it was a Kölsch-style beer, not a Kölsch. ;)

I was surprised to find Früh Kölsch at my local liquor store. I never thought that people would drink it outside of the region. Let alone outside of Germany or the EU.

I love a good fruit beer. BDT made a blueberry IPA and unfortunately, it wasn't good. Wrong thread, I know, but I just had Tasmanian whiskey and omfg it was amazing. So amazing that I had to say omfg...

Cool, that brewery is just south of my hometown and they do make some tasty beer.

That will definitely be a good time.

So I switched to a new team at work last week. Not sure if anyone is familiar with the agile methodology known as scrum but on my new team the name of each "sprint" of work is related to beer. The first letter of the name increments alphabetically and we're currently on K. At the end of the sprint our project manager brings in the beer related to that name (whether it is a specific beer or a style). Current sprint is Kölsch.

The downside of all of this is that my team is based in Virginia so no beer for me. :(

Was down at our office there last week and since I had been there last a beer garden had opened up directly across from one of the entrances to our building. It was a really cool spot. Going along with the beer garden theme, the main bar and the outside bar really pushed the German/Czech styles but the basement had a huge selection of American craft beer. Really cool spot.

Was looking at their website now, I don't see any mention of it.  I would have bought a ticket....

Meh, Cambridge isn't far, just 45 minutes.  It's the timing, have a Birthday Party to go to tonight (on Monday!)

Guess you have never driven it anytime after 3pm.  :P  My longest drive was 2.5 hours from downtown TO in perfect weather with no accidents.

Well it used to take my wife 1hr 20 minutes to get home from downtown Toronto.  So another 1 hour, 1hr 15 to Cambridge would sound right.

But no, I don't really drive at rush hour.  Busy picking up the kids, making dinner, that kind of stuff.  And if I did have to drive, would be in town.

finally tried out the local brewery at the brewery... nice atmosphere, cool place... but just not sold on the beers themselves. they are alright beers, just nothing that sets them apart.

Which brewery?  A friend and I did the new one in Dundas and both walked away very disappointed.

yep... that one. shawn and eds... or the shed.... whatever.

interesting set-up with the "garage" opening up to allow food trucks to come inside... i like that everything is out in the open... but yeah, the beer is just meh. better to go down the road to the cactus where they have 24 taps with some tasty things available (including at least one shed brew)

on a side note... in dundas and don't tell me?! *sniff*

So where's a good place to drink craft beer in Hamilton? Gonna be there in a few weeks to visit a friend.
