X-mas Loot....
« on: December 26, 2010, 07:42:51 pm »
So...what are some of your favorite gifts you received for X-mas?  Although IQ and I don't usually exchange gifts (we're scrooges!) she surprised me with not one, but TWO boxes of cigars.  1 box of Brick House Robusto (5" x54) and one box of NUB Connecticut 354s (3"x54)

Merry Christmas!  ;D

Me and Lady Osis weren't going to exchange gifts. She bought me a very nice goose-down parka and I bought her a 32gig iPad with a dozen books loaded on it.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Why do you need a goose-down parka when your new STi has heated seats?   ;)

We just shop together.

Me:
-two sweaters, two dress shirts, and a couple other articles of clothing...
-going to buy myself some speaker stands finally
-going to get those Euro aspherical mirrors for the Z4 (finally)

Fiance:
-random assortment of clothes that I don't remember
-she bought some "house stuff" from Bed Bath and Beyond

Stuff we got from other people:
-Magic Bullet blender thinger
-Yuk Yuk's tix

So materially not a whole lot of interesting stuff. But much more importantly, a lot of parties! ;D
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

^^Let me know how the Magic Bullet works.  I've seen the infomercial a couple of times and wondered how well it actually works...

Well, I got this elegant, understated cigar lighter (see picture) :).

I also got an interesting collection of "working class" Cuban cigars. These aren't fine cigars...mostly machine-made for the Eastern European market (Troya, Guantanamera, Belinda). My curiosity is piqued.

As mentioned in the boot thread, I got a pair of Original Swat brand boots. It's a fairly new brand to Canada but it's getting a good reputation for value.

I got a nice 1/2" round nosed scraper by Crown Tools of England. It's a lathe tool.

For Canadian content, I got some leather gloves made by Raber Gloves here in Winnipeg. This adds to my collection of Raber products as I already have their military issue Arctic One gauntlet mitts and their Arctic Three gauntlet mitts.

For the part of me that never grew up, I got the Moebius Models Creature From the Black lagoon model kit and the Polar Lights Psycho Mansion model kit.

And there was good collection of miscellaneous items like some Blu-ray discs, long underwear and a gift card for Chapters Books.

Did a surprisingly stunning 40 km down from the highlands with mountain bikes today, and tomorrow's snorkeling is supposed to be pretty good.

Gift-wise it's going to be a bit thin.

Yes she does. She's not a tech person at all, but she's able to navigate around pretty well. It works ok as an e-reader except for the glare, but that isn't an issue in her reading corner.

I am at an age now where my gift is giving, not receiving.

Old lady got one of these, she's wanted one a long time

Kids each got 22" lcd's and a ps3 for their rooms. (ps3's were "recycled" from various parts I had left over my side hobby/business)

My best gift was from my 70 year old mom, who made a quilted wall hanging of a grain elevator, with a hand written description of my Grandpa (passed away in 1978) and how he worked for the Searle Grain Co, from '53-'67, in a small town called Tatsfield, SK.

Tatsfield is completely gone now, where the elevator was is now a farmers field, with absolutely no indication it ever existed.

Priceless.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Boy's weekend in Montreal for the F1 race!!!

Got a ticket to all 3 days of the Montreal Grand Prix from my wife, kids, parents, and grandmother.  My wife got together with my friend's wife, and he got the same ticket from his family and parent's.
