I had very similar looking Columbia boots a couple of years ago and was quite disappointed when they split open and had to be tossed during the second winter.

Hmmm

I was hoping to spend a little for better quality.  My wal-mart $40 boots are on their third winter and are done, I patched them last year with contact cement.

Do you have a Columbia store nearby?  They also sell Sorel winter boots which are quite good.  I had a pair of Columbia pac boots and they were pretty warm.

I now wear some killer Danners.

Check here also for killer deals:  http://www.sierratradingpost.ca/  (the customer product ratings are quite helpful)

Don't think we do.  Not sure I would order boots online unless I could find a place to try the model first.  Those prices are tempting though.

Ok..taking a poll at work to see if we can help!!  TWO people (both outdoor/hunting type) swear by these boots for regular outdoor stuff. Actually one has the boots, the other has the shoes.  Says they feel only a bit bulkier than a shoe. For REALLY cold stuff or hunting in the cold, one uses a Kamik (not sure what model) and the other a Sorel "Maverick"    I wear a Danner Pronghorn GTX, 1100g thinsulate and Gore-Tex..  The rest had nothing really to say either way..and mostly wear Big Box store type boots (Walmart, Target, etc)

Beauty about online ordering through Sierra/Cabelas is the return policy is hassle free.  I sent a tent back because of a teeny nick in it...Have never had to send shoes/boots back since I know my size.

Be sure to get a set of Merino socks for your boots!!  Although a bit $$, good merino socks last 10+ years.

Okay, they can't look like mukluks hahahaha.  I like the low cut style I posted not interested in tall boots, they should look good be comfy be warm, and last three to five years of just getting in a dn out of the car as that is all I do with them.

Bought a pair of these a couple months ago:

http://www.merrell.com/CA/en-CA/Product.mvc.aspx/M-F-F-S-BO/22046M/48056/Mens/Isotherm-6-Waterproof/Espresso/J85149

Pricey, but very light, warm & comfortable.  Paid $159 for mine.
These will easily last me 10 years.  I have a different pair of Merrill boots that I bought over 15 years ago that are still wearable.

I have had several pairs of Merrell shoes and boots.  I haven't been disappointed yet.  You can find Merrell at most Sport Chek stores.

I bought a pair of Salomons in my local ski shop a couple of years ago. Warm, waterproof and comfortable without being to clunky or cumbersome. Mine are ankle high and are holding up well.

I'll take a look for the Merrell brand.  Can't say I've ever had a shoe last me more than 2 or 3 years, I'd pay more for 10 years that's for sure.

Heck I've bought crappy wal-mart boots for $20 they last a year and you toss them.  that's only $200 over 10 years haha

I bought a pair of Prospector leather boots 5-6 years ago and they've been fantastic.  I think I paid $150 for them and they're still going strong.

Like these, but mine are a darker brown:

They're extremely comfortable, reasonably warm but most importantly keep your feet dry.

I've also had decent luck with Merrell as well as Timberland, although the best boots I ever had were a pair of Asolo.

Been a bit disappointed with Columbia stuff in the last few years, seems to me to have gone downhill.

I go for fit, and my feet fit Salomon boots well, so that's mostly what I buy.  They also seem to be well made and warm.  My current boot looks like...

Keen is a high quality footwear maker, but they have a unique fit, and need to be tried on before buying.

My last 4 pair of shoes have been keens as I have a wide foot that likes a square toe box.  If that isn't you, you need not apply.

I love the rubber toes and standard waterproofing that comes on all keens.
