Miniature Engines
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:36:56 am »
The engines mentioned in the Dario thread inspired me to start this one.

From Weber Precision, a small scale, supercharged, V8 running on alcohol.

The designer has plenty of pics posted that show the engineering involved.

I want one for my coffee table.   ;D

Post any other small scale engines you find!

A buddy of mine sent me a long email with lots of miniature engines that are at the

craftsmanship museum in Vista I think.   At 08:20 eastern  www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com    is not answering or the local DNS is down so maybe try later.

I always wanted one of those steam engines as well... :(   Mamod was the name wasn't it?  and they still make them!    Looking at the prices I bet they are cheaper in inflation terms than they were back then.

Hornby of England has live steam HO scale locomotives:

Very neat, but a tad impractical for your average HO railway.

Impractical!  No Way!    why would that not work just fine and, like a real steam engine you'd have to stop and top up water and oil ( and probably change batteries).

I remember steam in the UK before it got replaced by horrible diesels and diesel electrics on main lines and 3rd rail electrics around where I lived, mostly commuter trains.

Bring back steam engines.

I see the Weber V8 is on display at the Museum.  I'll have to add this place on my To-Do list.
