Car clocked at 205 km/h on Island Highway, cops say
Quote
RCMP officers patrolling the Island Highway south of Campbell River on Wednesday morning were forced to set up a road check to stop a speeding motor vehicle clocked at 205 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/h zone.

Members of the Island District RCMP Integrated Road Safety Unit decided not to mount a pursuit "due to safety concerns inherent and complicated by icy and snow-covered road conditions," said Insp. Norm McPhail yesterday.

Gotta like that.

I guess the word is out in BC, if you stop for the cops they'll steal your car.

Best to see if the cops can catch you, they've upped the ante. :popo: :rofl2:

McPhail indeed.

The driver was arrested without incident at the road check.

The driver has a "new driver" designation and is under a driving prohibition.

The driver is facing charges of excessive speeding, failure to display a new-driver designation and failure to produce a driver's licence.

The related motor vehicle was impounded by police under the new administrative driving provisions," said McPhail.

Guess who's losing his car.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

New driver?   It may not even be his car he was driving...

I just noticed this post after replying to the other one.

No he isn't the owner.

What makes this even more serious and foolhardy is that a few miles further up the highway at the same time a semi truck was pulling onto the highway and a young girl panicked and lost control on the ice and even though the truck was fully in the right lane - the girl slip into it.

Two people killed and three injured. They were on the way to a funeral.

If he wasn't stopped - this guy would have slammed into that accident.

I shouldn't take the word of the news reporters.

Let me rephrase that -

The highway was blocked by the accident and emergency vehicles - and covered in black ice. He was doing 160 - 205 and he MAY have slammed into the accident scene.
