VW Spending Spree - $51.6 Billion Euros
« on: November 19, 2010, 02:52:53 pm »
Didn't Toyota have a 'Take over the World' master plan something like this?

V-Dub is investing $51.6 Billion Euros ($71B US) over next 5 years... $27.7 Billion of that for new product and re-design (to overtake Toyota in sales & profit ironically enough)
Wow, i've not seen other mfr's plans for development, but those $$ are pretty shocking to me...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy Renault Nissan to get there?   ;D

Also read today that VW has nine brands... I can think of four - the others are probably Yurp only...

- VW
- Audi
- Lamborghini
- Bentley

what are the others??

Don't forget VAG includes VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley.

It's a large operation.

I'm very curious to see how this plays out for VW.  Toyota who was arguably the most reliable manufacturer on the market went this route and demonstrated an overall reduction in quality.  VW on the other hand isn't stellar on the reliability front and... well.. draw your own conclusions.

Personally I foresee legions of VWs mowing down babies and puppies.

"Take over the world" financial plan.  Valuing sales numbers instead of quality (just look at the MkVI Jetta).  We've seen this before, repeatedly.  There's a reason why I jumped ship from the VW barge.

I think the price reduction is well worth the cost cutting on the Mk6.

I found interior quality at the top of its class.

Like this MK6 with the optional Porsche turret?:
