NADAGuides Car of the year is....
« on: November 19, 2010, 01:25:28 pm »
The Buick Regal!!!

NADAguides has officially picked its Car of the Year for 2011, and the choice may surprise you. While the Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and Ford Fiesta have been big media mongers this year, NADAguides shunned those stars in favor of the 2011 Buick Regal. According to GM, the newest Tri-Shield beat out 10 other would-be winners on the basis of fuel economy, price and performance, among other attributes.

I didn't see anything on the NADAGuides site as of yet.

I see plenty of GM advertising on the NADA site.  Just sayin'.

Curious choice at best.  The Regal's a respectable car, but COTY material?  It's just GM's take on the 2004 TSX.  Take a European midsize sedan, rebadge it, and sell it as a "entry-level luxury sport sedan" in the North American market.  That's all it is.

In my opinion, COTY for the year is between the Leaf, Volt, Fiesta, and Sonata.  Anything else is crazy-talk.

.....

Kinda like a 3-Series...except for the rebadging part?

Nah. It's like taking a German taxi and calling it a luxury sedan. ;D

It did win the European Car of the Year, didn't it? With even smaller engines available.

It's the diesel engines that make it COTY worthy, I'm assuming.   ;D
