Anyone who learned to drive on something like a 73 Pontiac with a 350 4bbl knows that rwd is perfectly fine in winter driving...if you bother to learn how to drive, and equip it with proper tires, and drive for the conditions.
Didn't learn to drive in it, but I was forever sold on the merits of snow tires when I had my 4.0L Jeep Comanche 2WD pickup. The All-Season Good Year's were totally hopeless in the rain, let alone snow, but putting 4 snows on it made such a huge difference it was hard to get the back end to step out and get a little drift action going...well, ok, it wasn't
that hard...
Traded it in for a 4x4 Ranger when I moved to Ottawa.
That Jeep was the most fun vehicle i've ever owned.
