Ford Racing today announced that there will be a rally championship for the Fiesta R2 in 2011.

The R2 is a full FIA homologated version of the Fiesta that boasts 40% more power than the stock car, utilizes a 5 speed sequential gearbox , full WRC calibre Reiger suspension etc. The R2 kit, produced by M-Sport, who run Ford’s WRC programme, is complete in every way, from the roll cage to seats and belts etc. Simply install and your Fiesta R2 is ready for the start of its first rally.

Team O’Neil Motorsports is proud to be Ford’s partner in this project as the exclusive R2 reseller for the USA.

Further details of this exciting development in North American rallying will be posted shortly including details on pricing, the Fiesta Sport Trophy event schedule for 2011 plus information on contingency programs etc.

Team O’Neil will also be announcing the availability of lower spec Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits for competitors who may not wish to compete at the R2 level.

hmmmmm   I would have thought that some seam welds not spot welds and some gussets and strengthening pieces might be a good idea for longevity
