Are you plannng on winning races with it?  Didn't think so.  There is fast and then there is fun.  They are different.  A neutral car is fast, a loose car is more fun.

Loose is also fast!!!  At least in NASCAR it is...well...most of the time.

I put the car in sports mode today and did a little more than just the typical tootle around and it actually does feel fairly peppy as the electric boosts it more.   So fun!

I thought we had determined that an 8.5 second 0-60 was abysmal? That someone's wife was terrified merging onto the highway with just such a car?

This is pulling 0-60 in 10 seconds. What gives? Are you suggesting that 0-60 isn't the be-all and end-all of performance stats? :stick: ;D

I do not look at times when I look for a car
I drive and figure out if it will meet my needs

I'm sure it is fine, I was tossing it around at about 120-130km/h in a slalom.  At regular driving speeds you would never know.
Funny about that.  The 1st model year of the Gen II CRX was 1988.  Its rear suspension had a certain amount of passive steer built into it.  The automobile magazines (ie: enthusiasts!) loved it, since it dialed out a lot of the understeer that was/is so common in front drive vehicles.  Apparently JQ Public didn't like it.  In subsequent model years (89, 90, 91) they dialed out that characteristic and used the opportunity to change the rear suspension geometry subtley in other ways by putting the rear dampers' mount location outside of the lower transverse members vs. inside as they were with the 1988.  They also changed the  the transverse members to a nice, slim forged piece from the simple stamped steel that it was in the '88 and massaged the spring rates a bit, too.

I think maybe I should drive one before saying I don't like it.  James, I know that you're an enthusiast so your opinion goes a long way.  After all, it's not how fast you go, it's how well you go fast!  (I think that was a VW advertising slogan in the early 1990s.  Probably a GTI commerical)

I think I'll take one for a spin today!  I have to meet my wife downtown and I guess I could leave a bit earlier (like about now!) and have a look at it.  I have to purchase/lease a new car next summer so who knows?  Besides, if I purchase it I could add some go-fast goodies to it.  Or, I could wait for an Si version to come out, since this is what Honda did with the original CRX and let everyone else drive the milquetoast version. Or......dang it!  I'm so conflicted over this thing.

I can confirm stability control works well on our snowy roads!

Yup, just got back home after a 30 km drive from the city.  Ottawa's looking kind of wintery tonight!  The first two winters that I had my CRX I drove it, and found it quite good in the snow when properly equipped with winter tires (96 and 97).  I've garaged it since.  How'd the CR-Z do?  Hopefully you tested the stability control on purpose, rather than by accident?  ;)

You call that Snow? I didn't find it any more slippery than rain, it wasn't accumulating on roads around here.

It was accumulating very heavily south of the airport.

Yeah, it would be just as useful as the Yaris but MUCH more fun to drive!  Only a 2-seater but the Yaris isn't much more except for in a pinch.

Grassroots Motorsports magazine just released the November issue pitting the CR-Z vs the original CRX in several tests including autoslalom.  The results will surprise you!

As stated by Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear, a sports car should be something that has a soul and something that brings out a passion for driving.  If that can happen with a 0-60 time of 12 second or 4 seconds, the feeling should be the same.

It's a lot for fun to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow.  Just my 2 cents.
