Winter & frameless windows
« on: October 25, 2010, 09:24:11 pm »
Just wondered if anyone has any issues with frameless windows when they're frozen?  Mine drop a tiny bit when you open the doors, just like a BMW  ;D :rofl2: . So what happens if they are too iced up to drop?

Also does anyone use cold/luke warm water to de-ice?  I used to in the UK and never had a problem.  Only hot water can crack a screen IMHO.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Wax your windows.  When they freeze, the ice comes off REALLY easy.

And I'd imagine they have a safety mechanism that won't allow them to go down if there is too much pressure...just like they won't go up if your finger is in the window...
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Haven't had an issue so far.

Luke warm water shouldn't be an issue.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Yea...Subies are renown for their cold weather abilities.  You'd figure if someone had an issue, it would be a Subie owner.

I've had Subies since 1998, and I think there was one time when I made the effort to chip away at the ice before opening the door - because the freezing rain left ice approx 1/4" thick on the whole side of the car.

Other than that one time, I've never had an issue.  Except when you roll down the passenger side window, and the ice stays put, and then falls into the car, into your wife's lap...that aint pretty.
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

No problems over the last 2 winters with my frameless or the frameless on the M6.  Never had to use water to de-ice.

Mustang did the same thing, Turbo Bob.  Never had an issue with ice.  I suppose it could happen...but I never experienced an issue over 5 winters.  And that sucker was parked in an open parking lot every night.

I'm assuming they just don't drop down then if frozen too much, is that OK?
