No, officer doing his job, in hindsight, it would have been best to let the doctor continue on at a safer speed.  I get the impression that the doctor considers his potential life saving skills more important than the safety/risk of fellow drivers.

I agree cop did his job. Saw a car going double the speed limit and pulled them over. I don't even have a problem with writing the ticket. If he didn't write a ticket and the guy was lying once he let him go he'd be off scott free esentially. Write the ticket up and then if things check out later throw the ticket out.

Its did not say but the cop should have had the doctor leave his car and take him in the police car with sirens to the hospital. Less time would be lost. Once aain it doesn't give details but if he made him sit at side of the road for 10 minutes while he wrote the ticket I'd say that's an error. Get the doctor in plice car. Take his liscence so he can write the ticket later..rush the doc to the hospital.

I like the suggestion of toolatecrew the officer could have put the guy in his police car.  He (or she) could have got the Doc. there fast and, with sirens, on safe. The ticket could have been done later.  Officers need to respond to the circumstances, like if the driver has a woman in labour racing to hospital etc.

Why don't they send a police car or a ambulance to pickup the doctor if it's really urgent is the big question here.

Seems like a small service to do that could save lives while keeping motorist safe.

Ambulances are probably best reserved for other stuff.

Police car...maybe if its close by. An escort at least. But there is probably some bureaucracy and lack of emergency services integration that prevents this from occurring properly.

Either way the last thing the cop should do is waste time in this one. Drive with the guy, if he's lying then you can charge him no? If he's really on his way to an emergency call then ignore the whole deal.

Yea, they are just doing their job.  Since Import Queen is on call 24 hrs. a day, I often take her for emergencies at odd hours.  And I've often been approached by police when I park in an area that says "no parking" or something similar while she treats her patients.  I'm also approached by normal citizens who tell me I can't park there...I usually just tell them to ":censor: off".  And they're likely the ones who call the cops...
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The officer should have cleared the road and escorted the doctor to the hospital. He could then witness the operation...if it was really the reason for the doctor being there.  ;)

Yes, but once you drop her off, there really is no reason for you to remain in a "no parking" zone. You can park elsewhere in the mean time.

Exactly, that's what most spouses of on-call emergency responders do.
Drop them off and go, the last thing you want to be doing is getting in the way of any other emergency responders who might be needed.
