3rd Gen Acura TL ('04-'08)
- add SH-AWD (or RWD)
- add a 2011 Ford 32V 5.0
- add DSG (so wifey could drive it)

Hmmm, I think I just described something close to an RS4, minus the DSG.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

I can think a number of combo's, but I'll settle for any NEW Ferrari.

Any?

... any that will fit FB size drivers ... as in Fatt Boy.

I'm pretty satisfied with my car at the moment, although if I were to imagine "perfect", I'd imagine:

- the V8 from the M3
- significantly lighter weight
- the Porsche PDK transmission.  Although the new ZF 8-speeds auto's that are coming (to multiple brands) are supposed to perform nearly as well as the current DCTs/PDKs, and the rumours are they may supersede them...

Perhaps not the best possible car as it is not entirely practical but it would be great!

Take the Z4
Mechanical:
Give it the 268hp direct injected N52 in the euro-spec 330i (not a huge change, still an N52B30)
Give it non RFT tires which will hopefully fix the tramlining and general lack of on-center feel.
Fix the transmission programming in D mode. ??? Although a DSG would be great.

Cosmetic/Interior/Niceties:
Give it BiXenon HIDs with auto swivel
New generation navigation and iDrive bits and such. HK audio and sat radio, etc etc.
Sport seats with thigh support.
Better cupholders.

Done! That's probably idea for me as far as hooliganing around.

As for the best practical / DD / roadtripping car, I am really liking the EX35 ever since I test drove it. But a few changes:

New 3.7L VQ engine. Or might as well go whole hog and gimme the 5.6L V8 ;D
New 7 speed transmission (they already have an EX37 in Europe anyways....)
Stretch it about 2 inches for the rear seat to not suck as much. 2 inches hopefully won't ruin the proportions.
Slightly less steering boost.
Move the rear turn signals up from the bumper into the brake light cluster. As it is they are positioned SUPER low and I doubt people in taller SUVs would see them.

You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Present: 15.5 V60 T6 + Polestar, 17 MDX
Sometimes Borrow: 11 GLK350
Dark and Twisted Past: 13 TL AWD, 07 Z4 3.0si, 07 CLK550, 06 TSX, 07 Civic, 01 Grandma!

What about making the cargo space of the EX35 larger?

I bet that all those modes to the Z4 could be done without much difficulty. The tire change would ideally need new springs, shocks and sway bars  but I would not be surprised if the DCT didn't bolt right in.

Good point. I guess ideally the seats would still fold and it'd be more or less all good, (ie you gain the 2inches for cargo with the seats down) and I wouldn't want to ruin the rakish rear end. :)

Well I have new tires on the way, should be next week or the week after. Winters on OEM 17s plus new 18 all seasons on 18" aftermarket wheels. Going to see how it is with non RFTs and wait until next spring to gauge how much better life is with 18" non RFT tires. :) Ideally I won't get the itch for a new suspension.

I may do some forum digging on the transmission issue (laggy takeoff in D mode, but its fine in SD).

HIDs are coming too, and yes I have the HID projectors / cut off.

More power unfortunately cost a lot of money since its an NA engine.

I tried being aggressive with the gas pedal in D mode at take-off for a few days, when I tried D again with my normal style of driving, the lag seems to have gone away.

Actually, I am loving what I am driving. The engine is nigh onto perfect. Some small breathing improvements (CAI/Exhaust) and a good tune and it will what I need it to be. For now. Maybe a 6 speed manual for the future? :)

Would love the full SRT suspension and Brembo brake package. Actually, Pedders of Australia makes a sensational suspension upgrade for it. For me, it would make for the perfect mix of handling, braking, comfort, size and old fashioned V8 torque.

Perfect car, period? Late 80's Aston Martin V8 Vantage. When they were still real Astons, before Bez buggered them up.

Fully hand made. Each one unique. Fast, big and comfortable. The perfect car!

Is there no place they couldn't add a rotor in that car?

We have 2 kids, 1 still in a stroller, so I need something with space in the back:

MazdaSpeed Mazda 6 wagon would be perfect for me.  With a slick shifting 6 speed manual.  Unfortunately, the Speed 3 is a little small for what we need.

If Mazda ever built that, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a smarty!!!

You should have seen my winter floor mats.  I think they had 100 tiny rotors each

My best "possible" car: without a doubt, the fictitious 911 GT3 Targa. Big honking sunroof on the rawest 911 available.

That said, that Aston Martin is stunning, Erik.

I'd like a BMW 3 series wagon with the V10 from the 'old' M5's like this one:

Stuffing a modern GT3 drivetrain into an older 911, similar to this one below.

Hmmm...wouldn't that make it worse in the snap oversteer dept??

More weight in the back AND more power??
