Gas Loyalty Points Programs
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:46:31 pm »
All this talk of gas!!  Just wondering what loyalty programs you use.

We DID have the Sunoco program, of which I have about 60,000 point that are now useless. :(

I'm doing Petro Points now...have about 20,000 pts thus far....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Esso and Petro-points.

Exchanged a heap of HBC points (useless at HBC) for Esso points.

I'm on PetroPoints...and have about a million points, naturally!  Actually...not sure what I've got.

The people are quite nice.  I had enough points at one point that the lady behind the counter said I could trade it in for $100 gas card.

PS - I saw a PC station that had Ultra94 today.

Yea..Petro bought Sunoco, and the kept the Sunoco 94.  But I can't exchange my Sunoco points for Petro points.  Pricks!!   ;D

**EDIT**  This is news to me...found at Petro Canada website.

If your local Sunoco is now a Petro-Canada, you’re probably wondering about your points. Later this Fall, you’ll be able to convert your Sunoco Performance Points to Petro-Points. Sunoco Performance Points members will enjoy two Petro-Points for every Performance Point they’ve earned. For example, a member who has collected 5,000 Performance Points will then have 10,000 Petro-Points. Until then, you can continue to earn and redeem Sunoco Performance Points at Sunoco locations.

Since I am only running 91 Octane, I use Canadian Tire gas with my Canadian Tire Mastercard.....it builds up cash quick

I used to use Pioneer until they did away with their 93 octane gas...

Petro Points used to be better.  They reduced the amount you earn on gas, and increased the amounts earned on stuff from the store.  They also changed the rewards, and they're not as good.  We used to get at least a couple free hotel nights per year, but now we just redeem for gift cards.

Air Miles at Shell is my first choice. Air Miles have been good for us and I like Shell's V-Power and the whole Top Tier gas thing.

If there's no Shell handy, then Aeroplan at Esso is my backup.

Air Miles and Shell, with the bill getting paid with a PC Mastercard to get 1% cash back.

I've got 2 Shells around the corner, they are Top Tier approved, and its the only F1 fuel sponsor I can buy in Canada.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

Used to use Sunoco and Performance Points. Redeemed them for gas before the station converted. It's good they'll allow you to transfer them to Petro Points - was just stupid PR move not to.

Today I usually fill-up at Shell using my new Air Miles card and MasterCard 3% Cash Back. Or Ultramar because the station near me is gosh darn inexpensive.

Wish we had more Ultramar's around -- i've filled up a few times, always at a stop off the 401... IIRC, they have 94 and it was 7-8 cents above the regular price instead of the usual 13.  The TL seemed to like that juice.

I prefer Shell but here in Guelph they are few & far between...usually fill up at Petro Can just because they are everywhere.  Need to get a Petro points card.

Noticed the other day the Petro Can on Hwy 6 (Hamilton hwy) that was a Sunoco has 94 at 1.17 a litre while reg was 1.002 ............

Esso points, they're useful for a touchless car wash in winter. That's when I use my points up.

My HBC points are automatically switched to air miles, which I then redeem for Shell gas certificates. 175 air miles = $20.00 worth of gas at Shell.

I have an ESSO business fuel card (courtesy of APEGGA) and ESSO Extra, luckily there is a new ESSO station across the street from my home.
Second choice are PetroPoints,  Airmiles at Shell or AMA bucks at Husky.

And BTW, Suncor "merged" (i.e. bought) Petro Canada, not the other way around. They just choose to keep the Petro Canada band for their gas stations.

Annoyed the hell out of me that they converted the Sunoco's to Petro Canada and not the other way. Sunoco was always the petrolheads best friend.

Petro Canadas points program blows, which is why I used Esso and Sunoco. Keep hearing bad things about Essos gas, so I'm looking at other options now.

Sunoco even sent me a questionnaire asking if they should convert Sunoco to Petro Canada or vice versa. I told them concretely they should dump PC and make them all Sunocos. Good to see they listen to me about as much as the people around here do... :)

They still sell 94 though.  And (supposedly) you'll be able to redeem your Sunoco point 2 for 1 for Petro Points...

All true. But it just won't be the same.

I better decide what program I want to use, because I should be using it a lot in the coming months and years. :)
