The '11 WRX looks great but as usual Subaru Canada has overpriced it compared to the U.S. models. The U.S. 5 dr Premium (middle model in the U.S) is listed at $27,995 plus $720 for delivery. The Cdn. 5 dr is listed at $33,395 (not sure if delivery is included) - why the big difference? And why is the 5dr $900 Cdn more than the 4dr?
I'll be looking for a WRX next year and a trip to Buffalo, NY may be well worth the savings provided the warranty will be not be an issue.

I currently drive an '08 Jetta GLI. The VW dealer (no warranty issues) installed a Revo chip for $600 that provides a very satisfying increase of approx. 50 HP and 50 ft. lbs. of torque.

So what's your point?

VW is guilty of the SAME thing.  In USA, Jetta starts at $17,735.  In Canada, $22,175.

And you can chip a WRX too.

Your point, again??

The term chip is so 80s. Its called accessport, opensource upgrade or stage 1,2,3 ... ect.
In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

Yeah - I did the the cat-back strictly for sound. However, C&D testing the Magnaflow and found an increase of 17 torques to the wheels.

Next up for me - I really want to go "stage 1" in the spring, but I debating the notion of going with sways and endlinks.....about the same price.....hmmmmm.......

Actually it was 11 pound-feet of torque and 17 was the HP gained from the intake.

I've read similar comparisons before and the at the end of the day you can't just bolt on the parts and add up the hp gains. So if you go stage 2 and opt out of the cat back the difference will be minimal.

I stand corrected.

I would go with stage 1 just to add a nice little bump of HP. From what I hear it really goes well with just an exhaust and is nice and "safe." I would really like to go stage II. I would go with the Cobb DP which is perfect for the Magnaflow as it's a 2.5 and the Cobb tapers to 2.5. Ultimately I'd like to be "stage2" protuned - probably Neetronics.

However, I'm slightly afraid to go Stage II on what's still a new car (12000 miles).

Going stage 1 first allows me to pussyfoot into the deep end.

I offered........ ;D

Vman, have you at least got the Accessport yet?  That single device makes every day Christmas.  I was following my brother from stoplight to stoplight a few months back.  We noticed our lane ahead was ending and would both need to merge.  So, brother in the WRX stomps it off the line (not a full, proper launch mind you because it did bog a bit), and just as I'm standing on the go-pedal in my car, he rockets away as if I was stopped.  Unbelievable.  Such a beast.

The past:00 BMW M Rdstr, 19 Jetta, 15 Ducati Scrambler, 09 Triumph Bonneville, 98 Boxster, 17 Kawi Z900, 05 LS 430, 99 LS 400, 17 Subaru STI, 14 Triumph STR, 15 WRX, 09 Ducati Monster 1100,  08 335i, 06 Suzuki SV650S, 06 330i, 06 MX-5, 04 Audi A4, 03 Suzuki SV650S, 98 328i, 93 Civic Si, 85 Corolla

Why pay $700 for accesport when you can pay 60 or 75 for the tactrix cable and just use a laptop. There is no marrying limitations. Open source is just as good or better. Does the accesport have launch control and no lift shift yet?

Yes.

But seriously.  How many people here can actually tune their own stuff?  Not many...

I would rather go with something that's been tested and pay more for it.

The tuners sell open source maps also. I'm currently using an open source stage 1 map from XPT. Plus you can upgrade any open source map with a launch control script that goes in and adds some rules to your map to lower the rev limiter to a user defined value when the speed is below a user defined speed.
I don't have it but I have done some research on it.

If I had a WRX, nobody would be tuning my car but Clark Turner...
