Well it needed that extra long rear end to improve stability and downforce at high speeds....And to cool that (for 1988) monster of a motor.

The 959 is one of those super rare cars that someone (very wealthy) with an already large collection of cars might seek out.

Certainly, if you were someone looking to buy your first $250k+ car, you'd more likely look at a brand-new Ferrari, 911 GT2, Lambo, etc.

Having said that, I have no idea what market value for a 959 is.

That's a lot of dough, but I seem to recall at the height of the 959 popularity, some changed hands for about a million.

I heard a basically brand new one belongs to Bill Gates.

Porsche pretty much created the "supercar" with the 959.  They brought everything they had, and then some.  Massive horsepower, race car handling, 200mph top speed, AWD and low production made it pretty much the "dream car" of the era.

The reserve hasn't been met.  These cars are tough to value because of their rarity.  Prices are probably all over the map.  It would be a steal for a collector at $82K though...

To be correct its not actually a Ferrari. The make is Dino. Just like Lincoln is not a Ford but made by them. Nice to see the owner didn't add the prancing horse to this one. I actually like the Dinos better than most Ferraris. Beautiful car.

It is a Ferrari  but has never had Ferrari badges, see the Wiki.  Just to be complicated there were Fiat cars that shared the engine and the name.
