Awesome car and I think the A5 is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen in the flesh. Why can't Audi configure a +300 HP version priced at $50k for us plebs.

Ouch on the price.  The C63 and M3 seem like bargains.  Sure, it has AWD, but...

Price aside, it's awesome.

Nice car but not fast enough stock for what it costs!

"If so, expect the RS5 to streak from 0-60 mph in about 4.5 seconds and onto an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, which can be upped to 174 mph upon request."

http://www.kbb.com/car-news/all-the-latest/2012-audi-rs5-is-coming-to-america

A $40,000 Base STI with a simple Stage 1 custom ECU reflash will easily do 0-60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.

Top speeds are irrelevant due to tough anti-speeding Canadian laws.

Top speeds are irrelevant do to tough anti-speeding Canadian laws.

I know what you're saying, but essentially 0-60 times are irrelevant also.  Ever try to nail a 0-60 time from a stop-sign or a red light turning green beside a law enforcement officer.....let's just say I experienced this as a passenger in a friends Corvette and the fact that he slowed exactly when he hit the speed limit (on the highway the limit was 80Km/hr) meant nothing.  Driving with undue care covers a LOT of things the enforcement officer wants it to.

There is also a law in BC regarding "excessive acceleration". Define that one, if you can..??!!

It gets a massaged version of the high-revving 4.2-litre FSI naturally aspirated direct-injection V8 first seen in the 2008 RS4 sedan and now found in the R8 4.2. Here it makes 450 hp (up 30) while torque remains at 317 lb.-ft. from 4,000-6,000 rpm. This engine sounds heavenly and winds to 8,500 r.p.m.

What a beautiful car.

Even if it was ugly, how can you argue with a 4.2L direct injection V8 that revs to 8500 rpm.

A local dentists' wife went to the USA and brought one back as a gift to her hubby.  So I know there's at least one in Canada....

RS5? They haven't arrived in North America yet?
Or do you mean RS4? There are more than a few in GTA.

Audi will, when the 333HP 3.0L V6 TFSI replaces the 4.2L V8 in the 2012 S5. => lower base price too.
The engine is already in the S5 Cab.

Here in beautiful Ontario it called stuning. And is defined as an obvious departure from the normal rate of speed of traffic or something along those lines...

excessive acceleration, thats a new one to me
i've been ticketed 4 or 5 times for undue care and attention over the years ,  which i find absolutely absurd
for at those speeds you have to take extreme care and attention to do those speeds

real scary - on the news - heavy fines for EXCESSIVE speeding
caught your 5th time -- fine is $ 24,000 !

@planb

"Driving with undue care covers a LOT of things the enforcement officer wants it to."

Sounds like your friend ran into an "officer" that had authority issues. That's why we have courts. If he didn't squeal the tires or slip sideways then I'd say the fuzzboy was just embarrassed and decided to do a little state fund raising. I do hope he went to court with it.

I was just going to say...the RS5 is not available here yet, so seeing one here is next to impossible.

Does anyone have any concrete info on when its going to be available here in Canada?

Hey I'm not the one that listed my almost 18 second 1/4 mile time and trap speed in my sig...

FWIW though my Tucson puts his Sebring on the trailer anyway - with a 17.7 in the 1/4 :)

Don't think he was comparing it to his own car.... :)

To be honest, I think it is very cool that he took his car to the track. Been too long since I have done that. I am looking to run some mid 13's in mine next year.
