I'm not into sports games or first person shooters.

War games don't interest me at all I'm afraid.

I'm not into first person shooters (although I'm willing to try ponies above), GTA, or metal gear solid type games.

Are you trying to say something here? I'm not sure you are getting your point across.  ;)

I really like LBP (You are talking about Little Big Planet right?) as its a great game you can play with others and even online.

Sadly I think most of the gaming money comes from those that play sports, war and fps so little time is spent developing games for the other 20%.

Yeah, but just like every other thread on this forum, nobody actually listens.  It's like when I said can you recommend a budget pc and everyone just posted links to the most powerful expensive pc's out there...  :rofl2:

Uncharted 2 - Among Thieves looks good.  I don't mind some shooting games just not interested in war games.

As for wheels for the PS3, Logitech has a less expensive wheel called Driving Force GT wheel.  I've tried it and it's pretty good.  Better than the subpar Microsoft wheel for the XBox 360.  But then again, it retails for $175 bucks, and I think I got my Microsoft wheel for something like $100.

In the end, I traded it for a G25 (previous generation) - never regretted it even though it costs twice as much, as its quality definitely makes its price worthwhile IMO...  If I were not using it to do things like the driving school in GTR2 and other simulation games though, I don't think I would have bought it...  The graphics in Gran Turismo Prologue were out-of-your-mind-jaw-dropping-stunning.... but I really didn't feel like the physics of the game made it worth it to buy an expensive wheel.  Maybe if GT5 has much improved upon physics...  I guess we'll see...

LBP is alot of fun.  I didn't think I'd like it...but IQ and I have had loads of fun playing it.  You won't like Red Dead if you're not into GTA.  They're built on the same engine.  Another game that's pretty fun is Need for Speed Shift.  Pretty fun game IMO, and looks good.

That F1 game and GT5 are must haves IMO.  As far a functionality, the DVD remote is a must have, since I think using the game controller to control watching DVDs is a POS.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Funny thing is: I've owned a PS3 for almost three years and never played a single game on it. In fact, I don't own a single game for it.

I bought it as a Blu-ray player. In that capacity, it has been absolutely bulletproof having played every one of my 240 BDs with ever once balking or glitching.

Agree....me too.  Flawless.  Only gripe is cooling fan could be a smidge quieter.

Have to agree with this or if you have a Harmony remote pick up their BT2IR converter.

Dirt3 should be coming out soon also.

For the kids, pick up Bugs Life, Toy Story 1 & 2.....truly amazing on BD.

The thing I've noticed over the last couple of years of PS3 ownership is that there aren't that many games for the younger kids - the games seem to be more centered around teens and young adults.
Thanks for the tip on Bugs Life and Toy Story 1 & 2.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

I find that all the "kids" games have moved over to the Wii and both Xbox/PS3 mostly do teen/adult games. Its were the money is I guess.

Here are the top 10 BD for video quality as per AVS which I pretty much agree with. Notice a trend?

Avatar
Kung Fu Panda
A Bug's Life
Astro Boy
Up
Ratatouille
Toy Story 2
Coraline
Cars
Monsters, Inc.

Any of these BDs will really show off your TV. Plus if you have a good surround sound system, these are also rated tops for sound.

I don't think the new box has IR, are there any bluetooth remotes out there?

I've never seen one but that doesn't mean there isn't. Besides, I think the PS3 is the only device that uses BT for the remote. I never understood why companies never adopted BT for remotes as its works better than IR.

Here is Harmony's answer.

EDIT:

Dell has this Harmony remote on sale today if you needed one.

BOb,

Here's the PS3 remote we have.  It's like $25 at BestBuy.

If you're playing discs, you NEED that remote.

When I got my PS3, I initially figured I could put off buying the remote. Big mistake. While you can use the game controller, it's completely counter intuitive. I found my self staring at it trying to figure out which symbol to use for which function ("Hmmm...do I push the triangle or do I push the square?").
