Political extremism involves two prime ingredients: an excessively simple diagnosis of the world's ills, and a conviction that there are identifiable villains back of it all. - John W. Gardner

OK, PS3 has won the day.  I'll wait until black friday/christmas to see if there are any good deals on PC's around then, then I will probably buy one at that point.  The photography stuff will have to wait.

So for the PS3 I'm going to get the new 160GB machine, don't need the Move technology.  So what extras do I buy?

I'm assuming I'll need:
HDMI cable
Another controller
Wheel of some sort? Holy :censor: the Logitech G27 is expensive, same price as the PS3!!

Games:
Read Dead Redemption (Ponies as GD calls it)
GT5 (Nov)
Anything else? LBP?

Any recommendations welcome, I'm not into first person shooters (although I'm willing to try ponies above), GTA, or metal gear solid type games.  Is LBP still among the best titles out there? It's been out a while.

Can't wait, get it all at the end of the month for my birthday!  Now if I can rewire the SNES and the PC Engine Elliot can have a console too!

Bobber,
Would suggest a wireless keyboard so that you can surf the CTC site from your easy chair on the big screen. ;D

LBP is a social / party game. Belongs on the Wii but I guess they wanted something with graphics that weren't horrible. Its as good as your social circle allows it to be.

There are a handful of decent sports games for PS3.

MGS4 is seriously The :censor: though.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

I'm not into sports games or first person shooters.

The reason LBP appeals is that I know the wife will probably like it, I'll have to get at least one game she likes.  :rofl2:

Killzone 2 - even though it's a fps.
Congrats on the PS3

War games don't interest me at all I'm afraid.
