I can see why the GM slappies are pretty upset at the Avalon, it's going to eat a lot of the buick regal sales. GM missed it's target consumer by making the regal and lacrosse porky, stiff rides, slow four cylinder engines, flat seating, and cramped rear seats. The Avalon will appeal to the Grampy consumer, who wants a large, quiet and floaty ride.
You sound like Jaeger, trying to provoke a response to a ridiculous statement relating to his Regal obsession. But you're a guest... or are you?
Regardless, you're being equally absurd. The Avalon competes, if that is the right word for a model that sells a handful of cars a year to retired dentists and accountants in Vancouver, with the Lucerne, not the Regal. And the Lucy outsells it handily.
As for the rear seats in either Buick, I suggest you go park your ass in one before calling it cramped. Just don't injure your brain any further by accidentally sitting on a seat belt buckle.

(ridiculous write up too?)
On the Regal and Lacrosse;
The four cylinder engines provide adequate performance, in the lacrosse the engine has to work hard, especially when merging onto a highway or maintaining speed on hills.
Steering feels overly heavy at low speeds and when parking.
The rear seat is cramped with limited head room in the regal
Neither cars's front seats measure up, The cloth seats in the Lacrossse are squishy, with uneven support.
The Regal's are hard. The bottom cushions on both cars are too short.
A wide center console and door panels impinged on leg room.
Driver's visilibility is limited, it is obstructed by thick front roof pillars creating huge blind zones.
In both cars, a high rear deck combined with large rear head restraints and small rear window, limit the view rearward.
The lacrosse center stack is a sea of buttons.

"But the question surrounding the Regal is this: How many people looking for a sports sedan will consider a Buick?"
