Gross :hurl:. I can't think of anything I would rather not be seen in.

Here are your keys to a brand new dodge caravan! :)
My other Honda is an MP4-31!

My brother who've owned mostly "american iron" for 3 decades, now owns an Avalon. And in the suburbs and turnpike of NewJersey this car meets his needs and more.

He is semi-retired, and certainly the more "mature" segment of the market will flock to these kind of comfortable cruisers, that I think are elegant and unpretentious. Maybe in 30 years i'll have one, but for now, a minivan will do. :-\

Cheers everyone!

So James - how hugely spacious is the back seat?  Does this car offer enough beyond a loaded Camry to justify the extra cost?

Nice car. No Soul. If I ever wanted to be a cab driver this would be the car for me. (0.00013% chance of that)

I test drove one when the 'Rolla was getting some fresh oil, and it's not my cuppa, but the "get up and go" of the Avalon is pretty impressive.  Keep your eyes on the speedo, 'cause this car can go illegal shockingly fast, and without any drama.  I bet it would sell a bunch more if the price was the same and it had a Lexus badge.  Lots of car for the money if you want a cushy FWD machine.

and C. LOL sounds like the perfect car to cross Canada. I don't mind the styling either. Nothing wrong this car. IMO. It's big, smooth...I'd buy one...No worries there.

Well, as compared with the LaCrosse, the Avalon offers more interior room in pretty much every measure, AND a bigger trunk, all while being pretty much the same length and width overall, not to mention 400 pounds LIGHTER (all measurements from Edmunds) so you're going to have to help me out with what is being sacrificed by whom.  More room inside with less room outside sounds like a good thing to me.

Neither the LaCrosse nor the Avalon are my type of ride.  But for those looking for nothing more than comfort, spaciousness, luxury and effortless power (they exist, you know) I can see either as an appealing choice.

Interesting that the Toyota is about 400lbs lighter than the Buick.

Not really when you put them side by side and actually see how cheap the Toyota looks. ;D

The Regal and LaCrosse have very rigid bodies, the downside is extra pork. The LaCrosse is heavier than the larger Lucern.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

GM seems to have pork problems across the board.  Must be "Legacy Weight" - definitely not their fault at all.

Sorry - I missed your explanation for why the Lacrosse is fractionally larger outside, smaller inside and offers a smaller trunk than the Avalon.  What were they sacrificing, exactly?  It sure wasn't weight.

There are more than a few of us who are Toyota owners.  Despite the recent ruckus... they make generally decent if not typically inspired cars. Not everyone is an enthusiast and even a few of us do like our Toyota's for what may be considered non-enthusiast reasons.
