Not exactly a dud, considering the lack of incentives

Filter out the Cobalt and fleet sales and where would the numbers be I wonder  ???   This is GM Canada's econobox segment buster and already $500 off the stripper and $1000 off the 1.4T.

We've been stealing Cruze customers at both the Toyota and Nissan stores.  In true GM fashion they launch a critically important vehicle with no leasing and no captive financing.  ::)

When this vehicle first appeared it had competitors very concerned.  But as attractive as the package appears, the drive train on the stripper unit sucks and the Turbo gets poor mileage.  GM just can't do small I4s.

How can they be Cruze customers if the Cruze was just launched?

Do you know how many Toyota and Honda and Nissan customers have been stolen at GM stores?

I think what he meant was these people he sold to were originally wanting a Cruze, but the lack of financing or leasing turned them elsewhere.

"I was looking for a Cruze, but with no financing or leasing, we decided to buy a Versa instead"
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Higher than the Corolla for February. Look it up.

I guess GM must be stealing more of them from you than you are stealing from them, given that the Cruze outsold both the Corolla and the Nissan equivalent, whatever that my be.

But as always, don't let any pesky facts get in your way. ::)

Prior to entering BK (and during the "death watch"), GM were often the WOLRD's leader in sales (and segment leaders in the US).....and we know how well that turned out.... ::)

Given that your mentor is complaining that GM is not offering any incentives or bargain financing on the Cruze, we can only conclude that it is both outselling the Corolla and being profitable for GM.

Not in the USA, where it really matters.  Still trails Civic and Corolla.  But looks to be doing well.

$500 and $1000 cash credit on CRUZE.

Corolla still out sells it.  That is a poor showing for a "segment" buster considering the Canadian market is home field for GM and the trashing Toyota has taken.

Eventually GM will saturate the rental fleets and the sales numbers will subside.

Just launched  ???   It's being 5 MONTHS!    See many.  :)

Let me rephrase:  Potential Cruze customers.

Do you know how many Toyota and Honda and Nissan customers have been stolen at GM stores?

Do you honestly think Camty/Accord/Altima buyers seek out the rental fleet Queen; the Malibu.   Rav and CRV shoppers cross shop anything at GM.  ???

The big stealer is the evil Hyundai.  >:D

Cruze did only so so in CR real world fuel economy tests. 36 US miles per gallon highway for both the 1.8 and 1.4 engines with the auto tranny. 4-5 mpg less than Mazda 3, Civic, Elantra, Corolla to name a few.

Have a good weekend.

How well is the Crize doing - beats me, but around here I saw four yesterday - two in silver, one black and one red. Some people like them.

I haven't seen one yet  but then....is it noticeable enough that I would?  Or just another silver grey car on the 401 with all the rest of them.
I also have not seen one parked outside our local Chevy dealer with a  big sign on it advertising its existence.

It seems like the Cruze did pretty well last month in Canada:

Civic 8031 (!)
Corolla 4445
Cruze 4249
Elantra 3764
Mazda3 2856
Jetta 2445

I don't recall any other compact other than Civic, Corolla and Mazda3 breaking 4000 units/month in the past 5 years or so.

It has happened, not too much though, from the beginning of 2006 the following additional vehicles have broken the 4000 units per month:  Yaris, Cobalt, Impala and Accent.
location:  Prince Edward County, Ontario

Only Cobalt is a compact.

It seems to me GM did supply those car mags with specially prepared samplers. In real life though a heavy car is heavy on fuel.

Yup...that's it...it's a GM conspiracy again.

What do you base your conclusion on?  Their statement that their observed fuel economy was the same as a Sonata?

What was their observed fuel economy from the Elantra?
