Corolla XRS - 8.0L/100km

Are you going to contest these numbers too?

I said one of the most powerful engines, didn't I? Besides, the 2.0L Forte isn't exactly competing against the Si and XRS either... it's competing against the Cruze (both engines), Civic 1.9L, Corolla 1.8L, Mazda3 2.0L, etc..

And for a 2.0L, 155hp (IIRC) isn't bad, I think.

Two totally different engines. The Si 2.0L prefers premium fuel and the power is developed up high without as much torque (130-140ft/lb if I remember right). The 2.4L 158hp engine from Toyota has 162ft of torque developed early in the power band and only needs regular gas. Also the 2.4L is .4L larger... so yeah it will suck down the gas a bit more.  My average, on my XRS, is currently 8.6L/100km.

It was he who brought the Forte into a Cruze thread by posting fuel economy of 6 cars, with the Forte looking so abysmal in its fuel numbers that it stood out!    I mean 9.something and that was the smaller base engine, how bad was the larger one in real life?

I never said the Cruze was the worst of the bunch for fuel economy, but it's certainly quite far behind the Civic and Corolla. And when GM boosts the fuel economy of the Cruze, it's quite surprising to see how average it is compared to its competition.

Seriously.  I first realized the error of my ways when Shnak posted 14 posts about why he preferred a Sonata in my Civic Si show-and-shine thread.  I've been doubting myself ever since, and now I'll never forgive myself for not buying a Forte.
