I don't think there is anything on the market today that can touch it pound for pound (the V-6 that is). Nothing else from NA, Japan, Korea at the V-6 Mustang price point with the same bad-ass attitude, looks, power and amenities.
Finally something that comes from a NA manufactirer that we all can agree on. 2011 Mustang rocks!

Power and amenities, I've no doubt Genesis V6 is at the same level or better than the Stang. But if you factor in the looks and the bad-ass attitude (as I specifically mentioned in my post), the Genesis looks are good but too generic (very subjective, but one could even argue that it looks 'cute'), and definitely not bad-ass.

Exactly, who else offers 300+ HP for $23k? End of discussion.

Who else offers 300+HP for $24k? The cheapest alternative is the Genesis 3.8 at $32,995.
Which brings me back to the original message. NOTHING can touch the Mustang at this price point.

You sure don't get tired of repeating yourself, do you?

And I wouldn't have believed there was actually a web site called "thatsbadassdotcom", but I would have believed that if it did exist, you'd be hanging on their every word.

So rest assured that the badassdotcom crew and all genuine badasses and badass intenders agree that the Mustang is the baddest ass of all.  Actual automotive journalists might not declare the V6 model to be the unequivocal El Supremo of its class, much less a class-busting titan with no remotely close peer, but hey, all they know is cars.  You know badass, and badass is what matters, right?

Mustang rules.

Jebus, child, let it go already. I am not talking to you, why do you have to talk back? do you have anything to say about the car?

Ford is offering major cash on the hood on this car now. A week or so back there were no incentives noted on their website, but I just "built" one there today and all of a sudden there is nearly $6400 in incentives. My $45+K nicely optioned GT is now $39K.

whaddaiknow has a point - all the badass talk aside the V6 offers a great entry-level price point and very few RWD sport coupes that cost $25K and can lay down 0-60 under 6, and the retro-inspired musclecar looks do appeal to some. But this discussion becomes senseless (as it has in the past 15 comments!) once options are added, because that drives the price up to $30+K, where the Mustang has stiffer competition. But at the base model, is there another car that has the same performance specs as the Mustang for the same price? I can't think of any.

Holy shmoly...you're right!  What an he-double hockey sticks car for under $40 Gs.  Did they get rid of the "Track Pack"...or is that now included in the Brake Package?

- GT
- Brake Package $1,700
- 3.73 $500
- HIDs $600
- Premier Trim $500
- Security - $350
- Glass Roof $2,200

Maybe they put them on there after I built an awesome Corvette GS for $68,000...as rrocket noted, almost $20,000 off.   ;D

That is some serious bang for the buck.

I might as well share this and stir the pot. I was quoted $300 under invoice by a US dealer on the 2011 GT. Under $30k.

Are you looking?  :)

That is a good question, especially since we all agree this is a car (whether base or GT) that scores high in the value department.  Overproduction??   ???

What was on it Careener?  I priced them in Can & US and found them similar after the rebates.

@Julie - of course I'm looking but I'd still prefer the Vette..except no back seats in the Vette for the kiddies.

Ageed...I just don't think I'd use a 2 seater that much.

^^At today's exchange rate, with air tax, with RIV fee and HST the Mustang GT bought in the States comes to $36,985.  Bought in Canada, tax in it's $40,466.  Same car.

That's a savings of $3,500.  Definitely worth it to buy in the USA.

Just for the heck of it, I did a build up for TopGuns GT500 with SVT Trak Pak.

All taxes on road bought in USA: $64,015
                            In Canada:  $70,567

Savings of ~$6500.   :o

There has been a lot of hype over how great a deal the V6 is... and granted in base trim, I suppose it is.  However, as we've discussed, other cars, like a Genesis Coupe, can be had for about the same money.  Priced out an '06 or '07 350Z or G35 coupe lately?  Low $20's are easy for good low mileage cars.  I think I'd rather one of those than a V6 'Stang.  Interestingly, as long as there's a V8 Stang available, the V6 version -- no matter how good it is (and I do believe it is a great effort from Ford) will never be 'bad ass'.  It'll always be the little sister to the muscular GT and Shelby siblings.

But getting back to the V8 cars, aside from the Camaro SS (which is now enjoying handsome rebates under the "Employee Discount" promotion), you'd have to spend a LOT of money - even in used cars -- to get to the $30k US cost of a 400+ hp GT model.  And with almost every auto journalist who has driven both cars (and seemingly most of us here who haven't actually diven both cars) tend to lust after the Mustang vs. the Camaro; the GT is the car that stands more in a class of its own.

I'll take my GT in black please with the brake kit, tinted windows and I'd love the beefier-looking 18" 5-spoke wheels from the base GT (will they fit over the Brembos?).  The smaller rubber will be cheaper to replace as I rip through rear tires like there's no tomorrow.  Keep it real sinister and 'bad ass'.   ;D

... oh and for those too insecure to drive an MX-5, wow... I feel sorry for you -- you're definitely missing out on one of the most enjoyable (and attainable) driving experiences out there all because of silly hang-ups.  Of course, it's those people who probably think ladies still lust after chest-hair and big mustaches too.   ;D
