Wing, how about Ford's PR dpt following this up with a properly-optioned, 2011 V-6 manual 'Stang?  With the great reviews the new V-6 gets, it seems to be a better deal for a daily driver (if the real-world mpg looks anything like the published figures...).

+1. I'd love a back-to-back comparison, especially given the raving reviews of the new V-6. I don't think there is anything on the market today that can touch it pound for pound (the V-6 that is). Nothing else from NA, Japan, Korea at the V-6 Mustang price point with the same bad-ass attitude, looks, power and amenities.
Finally something that comes from a NA manufactirer that we all can agree on. 2011 Mustang rocks!

-1 there shouldn't even be a V6 Mustang. If you want a sports car - buy a sports car. If you want a cute little toy - buy an MX5 :)
My other Honda is an MP4-31!

If it weren't for the sales success of the V6/auto 'Stangs, it wouldn't have survived. More than 50% of those were bought either by females or for them (old sales stat??).

That's ridiculous.  That's like saying there shouldn't be an Impreza, buy a WRX.  Or there shouldn't be a 3 series just get a M3.  What about cost?  Half the reason people buy a car is based on it's looks.  And what man would want to be seen driving a MX-5.?  He'd have to tell everyone it's his wife's car.

Haven't there already been a couple comparison tests that put the Genesis Coupe V6 above the V6 'Stang?  I'm not saying someone might not legitimately prefer the Mustang for any number of reasons, but "NOTHING on the market that CAN TOUCH IT!" seems a bit over the top.

Yea...one print mag just picked the Genesis V6 over the Stang.  Granted if he's basing this solely on price point, the Mustang is tough to beat.

BUT..if you equip a V6 Mustang for what you get in a "base" V6 Genesis, the Mustang would cost $2,000+ more....

335i 300hp, 300lb-ft or 320hp and 332lb-ft

328i 230hp 200ft-lb

Mustang V6 315 HP, 275lb-ft

The V6 seems to be a pretty legitimate choice with good output, especially for the money. Same goes for the entries from Hyundai, Chevrolet and Dodge.

I kind of like the Challenger R/T. Reminds me of a gregarious, slightly overweight kid with middling marks that was everybody's friend and a pile of laughs in class.

I probably don't have to reply to this (as I'm sure you already know where I'm going to go with that statement) - but here it is anyway - None of those are true sportscars like the Mustang is intended to be.

Sadly I do agree about this car not existing if it weren't for the v6 - and I also believe that a good chunk of v6 buyers are women. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I just don't see the point.

Found a 2010 Shelby GT500 with 300 km on it...and a 2010 Roush 427R.  Both at $50,000.  Both in Grabber Blue...'magine that!

The Roush is a blown 4.6...about 430 hp...apparently $63,000 when new...ouch.

My guess would be that the 2011 would be BETTER than the 2010 Roush...cheaper...but much more plentiful.

Or get a Parnelli Saleen....I see those for reasonable money..

My old boss bought a 2006 or 07 427R from the states when it was only a year or so old and paid just over 40K for it.

I'm sorry but that car is not me.  Too cute and small.  But I don't really care for any small cars except the original Rabbit GTI.  Maybe because every one I've ever seen was black and looked cool.

Power and amenities, I've no doubt Genesis V6 is at the same level or better than the Stang. But if you factor in the looks and the bad-ass attitude (as I specifically mentioned in my post), the Genesis looks are good but too generic (very subjective, but one could even argue that it looks 'cute'), and definitely not bad-ass.
I've sat in both and the Mustang interior just feels better to me (very subjective again). The hard plastics in the Genesis didn't cut it for me. I expected more given it shares its name with the sedan.
